Tacori recasting questions

I recently sent my rings back to Tacori for sizing and was just told by the jeweler that Tacori wants to recast my engagement ring due to a hairline fracture in the platinum. I certainly didn't appreciate any cracks in the metal. Is this legit or a way to make more money off us? Any idea how much recasting costs? Can't it just be fixed instead of completely remade?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

There should be bo cost to you. It's a manufacturing defect most likely and should be under warranty.
