Tacori issues after re-sizing ring

My partner and I recently bought our wedding rings from Tacori. His was too tight and had to be re-sized up, mine was too loose and had to be resized from a 9.5 to a 9. My partner's ring came back looking perfect. We assumed they just remade his. But mine has come back with some very noticeable (to me) issues that weren't present in the first ring.

1) It is obvious where it was re-sized, the crescents on either side are clearly deformed.
2) The diamonds used to be flush with the ring, now they visibly sit above the metal of the ring. My understanding is that channel set diamonds should sit flush with the ring.
3) The spacing of the diamonds is inconsistent, some are farther apart than others. As seen from below, the diamonds are no longer centered in their under-sections (see picture, really hard to describe)
4) The venting detail on the interior of the ring is noticeably different (this is less of a concern for me).

I paid ~$3,300 for this ring. It's the only piece of jewelry I've ever owned. The jeweler seemed unhappy that we both had to get them re-sized as is. I feel like complaining about these will require me to be a little more assertive than I'm comfortable with.

Are these concerns legitimate or is this just par for the course?

What should I do Pricescope pals?

EDIT: Apparently the file size is reduced when I upload the pics, so it's hard to see the detail. :((

I would not be happy either. Tacori did the work? They are beautiful but expensive rings. Customer satisfaction is key here. Discuss with your jeweler; they should be on your side.

Yeah, for that price I'd expect perfection. Bring the ring back and explain the issues, and request that if they cannot fix these issues, perhaps they would be so kind to resolve this by ordering your ring in your size, that way there won't be any sizing issues. Beautiful ring, I am sorry the sizing did not go as well as expected. =(

We took the ring back to the store. As expected, the salesperson was extremely dismissive of my concerns and said he did not see any of the issues I was concerned about. I began to feel a bit escalated, but luckily the owner of the store got involved quickly and said they would send it back to Tacori to be remade, though he did call me an "anal engineer." He meant it as a joke, but I'm very dissapointed. I'm assuming the salesperson was so resistant and dismissive because he is losing out on comission or something? He seemed to have a vested interest in not acknowledging my concerns. He disagreed with everything I posted above. If this wasn't a brand new over 3k ring, I would be less insistent. But 3k is a lot of money for us.

I definitely felt escalated and I was beginning to get angry until the owner got involved. I just don't understand why he is so perturbed about us having issues with our rings. My expectation was that they would want us to be happy with our $5k total purchase.

I'm so glad you are going to get what you paid for! It's a shame it took some disgraceful behavior on the part of the jewelery salesperson to get you there. These are not little items here, these are Tacori designer rings. Please post the outcome when you receive them.

Those are rings that should not be resized, so that is probably why the jeweler was concerned. I am not sure how both of them were the wrong size when they came. Did you both try on bands that width before determining your size to order or did they arrive from Tacori the wrong size (not what you ordered)? If I were you, I definitely would have added sizing beads to yours because later in life, you may need that half size and it would be a problem all over again to resize it larger. For that matter, this is winter and I would never size down in the winter because most people's rings are looser in the winter and tighter in the summer. In his case, there wasn't much choice if it was too small. You are pretty lucky your jeweler is agreeing to get them remade. It may be costing him to remake them at this point unless Tacori sent the wrong size at the outset.

So was it the jeweler or Tacori that did the resizing?

Diamondseeker - Thanks for the perspective! The jeweler sized me when I bought the ring at a 9.5. When I got the ring, it seemed very loose on my finger. I wore it for about a week and could easily slide it back and forth over my knuckle without any resistance. I went to a second jewelry store for a second opinion on the sizing and they said they couldn't believe I was sized at a 9.5. They thought that a 9 would be the best fit. I then took it back to the jeweler I bought it from and they sent it to Tacori to be re-sized.

My partner had the same situation, except his ring was sized a half-size too small by the same jeweler we bought them from. They sent his ring back to Tacori. It was apparently remade and looks perfect. There are no deformities.

I am concerned about summer time. But the 9.5 was so loose that I feared it falling off.

I didn't know that sizing beads were an option. I would have considered but no one mentioned it at any point. I really hope that they're not losing out on profits because of my issues. I definitely don't want that.

They said that Tacori did the re-sizing.

Well, I don't think you need to worry if they sized you and ordered the wrong size. But I really would be concerned about making it fit well right now (assuming you are in the US where it is winter!), because it is a wide band and you don't want it to be too tight in the summer. I might try to call them and see if they have started on it and maybe change it to 9.25. My rings are loose right now and I could probably wear a half size smaller, but not in the summer. My rings slide over my knuckles right now with no resistance as well. Wider bands usually need to be slightly larger than thin bands, too.

So sorry this had happened to you. It's terribly disappointing. It seems fishy to me that both rings got resized by tacori but the quality of workmanship is vastly different. I have a hard time believing Tacori would send back your ring in such a state and yet your partner's is in great condition. I'm not sure what happened, is it possible that one ring got sent to Tacori and the other was completed in house? It just seems really strange and inconsistent.

When we bought my SO's tacori ring, the jeweller spent a good amount of time making sure he got the sizing right bc they said it was very costly to get it resized without wrecking the beautiful venting detail inside (as well as the engraving in the outside of the band). We went back 2-3 times, different days to make sure we got the right size (plus SO was hemming about what colour gold he wanted). Turns out, SO's ring is a bit too big but rather than get it resized, we added sizing beads to help cinch things up. None of this is very helpful to you except that your jeweller maybe didn't do a good enough job explaining the product to you.

Let us know what happens. Good luck!

I belive the OP said that her partner's ring was remade, not resized.

They sent his ring back to Tacori. It was apparently remade and looks perfect. There are no deformities.

Thanks for all of the comments. Each one has been helpful! I'm not sure if they re-made my partner's ring. They never said either way. They did say that they sent my ring back to Tacori to be re-sized, but I suppose that could be untrue. I am surprised that Tacori would approve of a ring with so many, albeit small, deformities go out with their stamp of approval. Particularly a brand new ring.
