On old posts, I have seen that customers have discussed Tacori's willingness to allow for setting upgrades. This would be at 75% of original purchase price and for at least same amount. Does anyone know if this is still offered by them? I haven't seen anything on their website. Thx!

Never heard of that but I assume you have to be original owner and have all the paperwork.

As far as I know they still honor it but yes you do need to have the authenticity paperwork.

As a Tacori dealer I can shed some light on this little known program. We have worked with a few customers on upgrades and this is how it has worked for us.

If the item was purchased before Jan 4, 2013 it is eligible for 75% upgrade. After that date, 65%. The new item must be a higher price than the full price of the original and it must be in undamaged condition (only normal wear and tear).

As an example of how the calculations are done, let's say you originally purchased a ring for $3,000 and the ring you are upgrading to is $4,500.

You would get 75% of the original purchase ($2,250) applied to the new purchase. The balance would then be $4,500 less 2,250 equaling $2,250 net.

If original was purchased after Jan 2,2013 the rate is 65% so the numbers would be:
4500-1950 = $2,550 net for the new ring.

And as AprilBaby and Pandabee correctly stated, you need to be the registered owner of the original piece.

Hope that helps.

I have a tacori engagement ring with a 0.96 carat center stone. I would like a bigger center stone in the near future but I want to keep my setting. I love my setting. It looks like my ring is all one piece and was created around my center stone. Does this mean i cannot upgrade my diamond without needing an entirely new setting as well? It looks like the mounting or basket that holds my diamond is part of the rest of my band. I'd like to upgrade to 1.5 carat diamond.

Do you know the model number of your Tacori ring? It should be possible to determine your range of options by knowing the specific design.

It's the dantela 2639rdp65 model

That a very pretty style. Unfortunately, with that halo it's very restricted in terms of outside dimensions of the center stone. I don't think you will be able get a 1.50ct in there properly. If you extended the prongs to make it work, it would not look right.

@lilylee33 In addition to what Bryan said about your particular setting, very few settings can go from a 1 ct to 1.5 ct diamond unless you replace the head. That would work with some solitaires, but most of the time it means a new ring. But it sounds like the setting upgrade policy would be a fantastic option for you if you are the registered owner of your current setting!

I assume the head (or whatever you call the piece that holds the diamond) can't be switched out? So I'd have to get a whole new setting?

Any idea how large Of a diamond I could upgrade to with the current head/setting that holds my 0.96 carat diamond?

Changing the head isn't a good idea that with that setting and they probably wouldn't do it as the entire halo part has to be redone. You'd need it remade. I think the size of the whole setting would differ from the one you have for a 1.5 ct stone anyway. Bryan may have the exact ranges, but I am guessing you could go up to maybe 1.2 cts. But the overall appearance wouldn't be enough difference to bother, to me, since the halo size stays the same.

Ok thank you so much for your help, much appreciated

The model number seems to suggest it is designed for a 6.5mm (approx one carat), in which case you could probably squeeze a 1.6 or even maybe a 1.7 in there. But if you want to really get the full punch out of your upgrade you probably need to special order the design for the specific size diamond you end up choosing.
You may want to talk to the jeweler you purchased the setting from as to what trade up benefit they may be able to arrange for you with Tacori in exchange for a special order for the bigger size center.

I'm sorry, my statement above is totally confusing! I meant to say a you might be able to get a 6.6 or 6.7 mm diamond in your original setting. So, just slightly over 1 carat.
1.50 ct is going to be well over 7 mm.

Ok will do! Thank you very much for your time and help
