Okay guys, here is the thing. I have recently fell in love with the Tacori 2578, the criss-cross design is absolutely stunning. My fiance Josh loves this too, but we decided that if we are going to get the Tacori 2578, we wouldn't go with a round center stone. We saw pictures of the 2578 with the round center stone, and it just didn't look right to us.

So then we saw an amazing couple of pictures, from mom2twogirls... her round brilliant set in the 2620 was stunning, absolutely stunning. And the delicate diamond band, it just really set off the stone.

So you see... we are caught between two very beautiful settings, really what we are wanting for each setting is completely different. The 2620 is stunning with a round brilliant. But the 2578 we were thinking something like either a cushion cut or a radiant, something with a lot of fire, but definitely not round, as we didn't like the way it looked.

So please.. we need all the help we can get. Would you go with Tacori 2620 or Tacori 2578?

Some things to keep in mind:

~ He does in fact prefer the round center stone. Something about the 'never ending idea'.

~ He prefers the Tacori 2578 over the Tacori 2620.

~ But, if we get the 2578, we won't get a round brilliant. Then again, if we get the 2620, we will go for his idea of the hearts and arrows round cut that he fell in love with.

We are both wanting lots of feedback and opinions, so please, feel free. I will take anything up to this point. Thank you so much.

By the way, this is my first post, and I have done lots of looking around on the site. It is absolutely amazing. Thank you for all of you guys's time.

If you would like pictures, please let me know. I have a picture of the 2620 with the round brilliant, or the link, if you prefer. And I also have a picture of the radiant cut 2578. Thank you.

Definitly post the pictures you have. Your message includes more of what "he wants". You will be the one wearing this
ring so you need to seriously think about what you really like better. Both rings are beautiful. I dont have a problem with
the round in the 2578 but that is a personal preference. Please post the pics that you do have so we can see what you''ve
been looking at.

And I know that it seems to be more about what he wants, and you are right. He even told me that I should make the final decision, because it is going to be what I am wearing, but since the majority of the wedding plans is going to be what the bride wants (going with traditional methods here), I want him to have as much say as possible in the ring planning process. I love him, and his thoughts count just as much as my own. We love both settings just as much, so please help me out if you can.

Thank you so much, tyty, for getting back to me. You are my first responder.

For some reason, it won''t let me post pictures. Getting frustrated...

Me personally, I would choose the cut of diamond I wanted and then pick a setting to match, KWIM? The diamond is the larger cost, and also the diamond is what will "make or break" the setting. You need to decide whether you are a setp cut gal or and RB gal etc. before you choose the setting. There are real differences in the appearance and performance of those two types of cuts, and you should know which appeals more before you get "locked in" to a setting.

Hello guys,

thank you all for the replies. Well here is the truth. I love the Original Radiant cut, because it is sparkles just as good as a round brilliant, but has that square/rectaangular feature that I love so much. It almost reminds me of the qualities that Josh and I both admire. He loves the round, because of how much it sparkles. And I love the length of the radiant, all because my fingers are somewhat short, but they aren''t really stubby.

I think that I am deciding with the Original Radiant cut, and I am talking to him about it right now, and he still thinks that it should be my decision, final, because I will be the one wearing it, and it should appeal to me. But the truth is, I would be happy with anything that he decided, because it came from his heart.

So can anyone tell me, since I am a complete newb on this site... lol... how do you post pictures and links without that error page popping up, lol.

I really love the way it sparkles...

This shows it standing up, I just love the uniqueness of it.

And this is the wedding band, which fits with the engagement ring. I think it is absolutely beautiful.

(Never mind guys, I realize that I am not as bad off as I thought. I figured out how to post pictures, but it seems as though I have to make a post for each new picture, lol.)

Well guys, this really is my dream ring. I don''t really care if it is 18k or platinum, but I can''t go under a specific karat weight because I am allergic to some metals. Josh wants to get me platinum, but it can be really expensive, and I think that 18k looks just as nice.

I would still really like your opinions on this, so please leave me something and I will do my best to respond to everyone. Again, thank you tyty and dreamer for your generous insight and replying to me.

Hi emraldeyz,
If you are truly in love with 2578 then you should get it. We usually put more emphasis on the stone then the setting
but not always. Now you need to learn as much as you can about "squarish" stone and decide what you want.
Options would be radiant, emerald, asscher, princess or how bout one of GOGs cut corner square brilliants. Give you
sparkle with a square shape.

Here are examples of all the squarish shapes

I forgot about jubilee

Once you have narrowed it down to 1 or 2 shapes that you like I would learn as much as you can about that shape
and then find a vendor that has one that you like or one that can search and find a stone for you.

You could also go with a more squrae cushion cut if you like those (there are lots of different looks of cushions)

Let us know what you decide!

Thank you tyty for the links and for getting back to me so quickly. Well I went over it with him, and he thinks that the radiant, since it is a compromise on what we both see in the center stone, is the way to go. And with that being said, we are going to choose the Tacori 2578, with the diamonds going half way around the band, and 18k white gold. It is so beautiful in person, the pictures are good but seeing it in person really does it justice. It is an amazing setting, and it leaves me in breathless awe.

=)

Does anyone have any opinions of the size that I might should think about getting for the center stone?

It''s going to be a beautiful ring!! As for the size of the stone, do you know your finger size? If you have smaller fingers, you may want to look somewhere between .6-1.2. I have a 1 carat and my finger size is 4.75 and my diamond is plenty big for me. I know the range is pretty big, but it all depends on what you''re going for. Buy a diamond that is as big as your budget can get you without sacrificing cut.

Congrats on deciding! It will be beautiful! Do stick with a GIA/AGS certified stone. Radiants are known for showing a little more
color so if you want a whiter stone dont drop down too low in the colors.

Here is the cut class chart for radiants to help you know what are the best table/depth/angles to look for.

You may also want to buy an ideal scope to make sure the stone is not losing light (or find a vendor that provides ideal
scope images).
