i was just wondering, is the bezel and halo ever completely symmetrical and circular in a halo setting? i've obviously been staring at my ring (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/engaged-my-0-56ct-halo-with-plain-band.171345/) and am noticing that the bezel around the diamond and the outside of the halo isn't completely smooth/symmetrical. the bezel around the diamond doesn't look a perfect circle and the edge of the halo (very thin milgrain) doesn't look very smooth. it's also delicate and i have knocked some of the milgrain flat with a knock. the milgrain is going to be fixed but i was wonder whether i ought to ask for it to be made a bit 'neater'? or for them to strengthen the outer of the halo?

I have the same problems with my ring, it was custom made by a jeweler who didn't really know what he was doing. I'm not saying this is the case with your ring but in my experience these problems are hard to fix and it totally depends on the skill of your bench person. If you have any doubt in the skill of the person who made your ring, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

As far and strengthening the outer bezel this probably means adding extra metal and in my opinion a thicker outer bezel doesn't look very good. So in the future I would just be a bit more careful with your left hand. I know this is difficult but wearing an engagement ring takes some getting used to.

I also had some milgrain problems and I would absolutely ask for it to be made neater, uneven milgrain drives me crazy.

The bezel around the diamond should be totally even but unfortunately this is also a hard problem. To work on the center bezel the diamond has to be removed and chances are there will be new imperfections as a result of fixing the bezel.

I'm sorry if I scared you, but the good news is you ring looks far better than mine did in the beginning so it might be easier to fix some of these problems. So go talk to your jeweler and see what they say and if you have any doubts in terms of workmanship, please go somewhere you feel more comfortable with the jewelers skill! I hope all goes well and you ring can be perfected, the design is so beautiful and I love the second bezel and the profile. Good Luck and Congratulations on your engagement!!

Thank you for the advice, I am a little worried about the imperfections and what the prognosis will be! You can't see these things until you look hard at it but theyre starting to bug me. I'm taking it in on Monday to discuss what they can do, if I'm not convinced they can fix it, I'll go elsewhere.

I love anything that has a little something about it that shows that it was handmade. If your ring were perfect it might as well have been machine made. I think your ring is perfection with it's tiny imperfection! Enjoy.

Honestly, most stock pics that I have seen with a bezel have been slightly off. I love the look of a bezel but I think that the offness would drive me nuts. I thing your ring is gorgeous though   , and I really doubt that anyone other than you can see the imperfection of the bezel.

I agree with this completely :) I think it's beautiful and the "offness" isn't very distinct. It's just a tiny bit and I think it just adds to the uniqueness and the character of a handmade piece.
