I''ve got a "good" band that had a nice CZ in it, and now I have an even nicer diamond, but don''t like the thin band. Can they be swapped, even if the diamonds aren''t the same size? The new diamond is about 1-1 1/2 carats bigger.

You can almost always have them "swapped". If the new diamond is larger than the old cz, your jeweler can change the head. I would find out first what it would cost to swap them and compare to what it would cost to have your diamond set in a new band.
