How common are surface inclusions in SI1 clarity diamonds?

Hi,
Quite often the inclusions will reach or break the surface. The key is the nature of the inclusions, the number and where they are. You really have to view the inclusions under a scope to see how comfortable you are with the stone. I wouldn't pass on it because of it. Just make sure it is a GIA cert or AGS diamond quality grading document to start. Cindy

Thank you for your reply.

I was always led to believe that surface breaking inclusions were in the Imperfect grades I1, I2 & I3. How long has this been allowed in an SI1 graded diamond?

I have seen vs stones with surface breaking inclusions. Just make sure that the jeweler setting it has insurance if it breaks. After that I would not worry about it any more than any other inclusion.
