Hello Experts.

I was helping a friend find a diamond online and came across a wierd comment on GIA ceritificate "Surface Graining not shown" What does that mean? Is it bad to buy a diamond with that comment. It is a 2.25 carat G color VVS2 clarity. Please help us out

thanks

I could never find out how the extent of surface or internal graining is taken into account for clarity grading, or for polish grading... 'Guess the idea of VVS2 is 'no clarity characteristc matters' since all that is allowed are two items discernible at 10X - only (or so they say www).

2c

I would appreciate to see the grade makers of a stone, sure enough.

As AV_ says, it's not clear to what extent graining influences grading choices, but a VVS stone should not have any issues, as I understand it - my good lady's VVS stone has a feather as the grade setting inclusion but I struggle to find it with a loupe!
