Summer Fragrances 2009

Still working on my final bottle of discontinued Song de Chine (by Crabtree & Evelyn, dang them to heck: they discontinue everything I like) . Another discontinued fragrance that is great for summer is Gloomaway by Origins - grapefruit-y and fresh. I still have a bottle of the perfume from some years back when they made it. Now they only make bath gels and such in that fragrance. And Marc Jacobs (Christmas 2 years back from DH), and Daisy by Marc Jacobs (anniversary this year from DH)....both of them light, with Daisy being the lightest.

I save Goldleaf for fall, and Tresor is anytime, as is White Linen.

I''ll be watching this thread as I am in the market for a new perfume. I tend to like fruity, foody scents whcih I know a lot of people don''t like. (like Hanae Mori for example) Anyone have anything that would fit the bill?

Have you tried Clinique Happy or Happy Heart? They are quite fruity and long lasting and readily available. What sort of fruity and foody notes do you like?

Lorelei, I have tried Happy but not Happy Heart. I think I would have to say I like vanilla a lot. (OK don''t all shun me-lol)

Cind I adore vanilla, really love it in fact!!

Have you tried Chanel Allure? This one has a lot of vanilla.

No, I haven''t but that sounds like something to put on my list to try. I live in a small area with no Chanel counter. But I think I''ll be near a department store that carries Chanel this weekend.

My Louve by Serge Lutens has arrived as has the Douce Amere, I'll save that for later.

I am wearing Louve now, it has been on about 45 mins and I am loving it. First impressions....Robitussin cough meds on opening!

Then it swirls around like perfumey almonds, cherry coke...As it dries down I get creamy sweet rosy jam with a background of soft marzipan - deelicious! It is still strong after 45 mins, lets see if it actually can do over 2 hours on me.

One hour and a half mins later it has dried down properly, still very distinct. Now it is powdery with the almond note still present with a creamy musky background. Very nice. I shall report back in a bit as the fragrance progresses and so I can give Miss Ellen a good laugh with my musings....

Sophisticated, and elegant. It''s lightly powdery, and I for sure smell the freesia and hawthorne. I''m not AS aware of the honey tones in it, but I''m loving how elegant a floral it is. MUST OWN..

But before I leave, while I was up here, I took a shower washing every body part with actual soap; including all my major crevices; including in between my toes and in my belly button which I never did before but sort of enjoyed. I washed my hair with adult formula shampoo and used cream rinse for that just-washed shine. I can't seem to find my toothbrush, so I'll pick one up when I go out today.

T''was a bit spensive, $100 for 50 mls. Then '' tis an exclusive type fragrance.

Whoa, success! I have not had luck with staying power with SL; but admit their range of fragrances are indeed, "yummy".....

Sharon you will never guess! I put a little squirt of Louve on last night, took a shower and went to bed. This morning I sniffed my wrist and it was still there, faint but present!
