Musck Ravageur from Frederick Malle has arrived....

HI:

What is fragrance all about? Is it new?

cheers--Sharon
Its been around a few years Sharon and has a cult like following. It just isn''t as strong as I expected but apparently it can take a while to get to grips with this one so I shall persevere! It is supposed to be a magical brew....

Annnnd?
Its nice but not as strong as I had hoped, you have to concentrate to smell it....

The staying power is good, still on after 4 hours but it doesn''t have the '' throw'' and strength I thought it would have.
Well, bummer.

hi ladies :)

i dont have a lot to contribute as my perfumes stay boringly constant, year in and year out. about 10 years ago i added Allure to my line up - but since then, no changes. but i just wanted to add my summer favorite to your mix here.

my standard summer perfume is bvlgari au the vert. i absolutely love it! so many perfumes smell horrible or too strong on me; i cant wear orientals at all, for example. but bvlgari has a freshness to it which i just love. and the green tea notes are just delightful. i often pair it with Haute Provence, a light 'bath water' more than a perfume - which has notes primarily of lavender and orange blossom. the two together give a delicious flavor.

and the soap is YUMMY! :D

guess who called while I was on the way to the funeral.

You know I figure that I''ve gotten a truck load of bad news in the past two weeks.... so I SHOULD get to spoil myself.

and I get Samples

Hi Whitby

I have Allure too, very versatile perfume, in fact I should dig mine out, I haven''t worn it in some time. I will look out for the bvlgari au the vert.

It''s not exactly what I would call a summer perfume, but I have been wearing it since March, Diane Brill Parfum. I love it and it is not like my usual L''Artisan summer perfumes like The Pour Un Ete or Mimosa.

I did order the 25 ml. She is sending me a few samples, including one (which I cannot remember) that is discontinued
30.gif
. She thought I had purchased previously (I thought to myself, I think I must have purchased from you in a previous life b/c I love talking to you). She was lovely!

I was surprised that the funeral was formal Catholic, but it was lovely, very sad, touching, and I got to see everyone who was in that group. I only left b/c my arrogant abusive ex tried to corner me amongst a group of people and a piano. I bowed out, but will see everyone again Saturday night.

hi lorelei :) just a sweet, funny story about Allure...

around the time i first bought Allure, i'd been looking for a new perfume for ages. i have a really sensitive sense of smell and lots of perfumes give me a headache, so i'm really particular about what i wear. anyway, i couldn't find anything i really loved.

i went into the city to a beautiful department store in sydney with tim one day, specifically to have an afternoon smelling perfumes. tim got bored and wandered off to the electronics section, saying 'i'll meet you outside when you're done.' while he was gone i came across Allure, and thought it was really unusual. i never spray perfumes on myself when i'm 'just looking', but i sprayed this one on, then went outside to meet timmy.

we started walking along the street (big, busy road in the center of the shopping district in sydney - lots of pedestrians), and i saw tim sort of 'sniff the air'. then he leaned in slightly closer to me as we walked along, and sniffed again. then said 'what's that perfume?' i told him it was Allure, and we kept walking. then i saw him take another sniff...then move a step closer to me as we walked. i thought to myself "we have a winner!"

ever since then, whenever we go somewhere special, i always wear Allure. :)

Thats a great story Whitby! Allure is gentle yet distinctive, I also find even the EDT lasts forever, the staying power is excellent.,
I have found my bottle and will wear some tomorrow!

Diane is a WONDERFUL lady! I wish I could go to the boutique and see the urns and all the gorgeous perfumes.

Sorry the ex was being difficult at the funeral DF.

Whitby - will do

I just love 22 but am sad my SO doesn''t like it. I''ll have to settle for a decant of it
41.gif

It is what I am wearing now.

I think tomorrow will be a TB day... now that I know it won''t go away.

Thats a shame, its a wonderful perfume. Maybe it might grow on him? I think it is one of the most elegant perfumes ever.

I put it on the other day and he says "are you wearing baby powder" and here I thought it was just strong perfume for me (Chanel tends to be strong at first on me). Anyways, so I say... no Chanel 22. And he says "ugh" and so I said "wait for the dry down" Dry down Came "Ugh" me "no???" him "NO" me "poop"

If Whitby had some TB we could do that....

Do you get the incense from No 22? I love that in the drydown.

Yes I do, am enjoying it right this minute actually. I wore it today, it''s comforting to me, which is why I WILL own a decant of it.

You know, I would get some anyway. Hubby doesn't love all of mine, he loves TB and Habanita being his favourites but I do wear some that he isn't keen on if I enjoy them.

L - I might at some point. My bank account is in recovery in ICU right now lol. I''m glad I ordered it though. It''s cheering me up. And as she put it "I''ll just give you a bunch of samples and set you up, I''ll send a booklet too"

I cannot WAIT.

Wonder how long........

I think they UPS orders so shouldn't be long but even if not it should be fairly quick.

You know I think the loveliest description I ever read of TB was " a vintage pair of leather gloves laid away with an antique cigarette holder aged just the right amount..." Describes it perfectly.

I agree
The other one I liked is when someone said it made them feel like they should be in a bar in the 20''s wearing leather gloves and smoking or some such nonsense. I feel alluring in it.

Thats a good one. Or a racy lady in the twenties who drinks bourbon and drives a stick shift car very fast!

Can I be her?

Of course you can! I wonder why ladies from bygone ages always seem so glamorous...

because they were classic, classy and yes... glamorous. They were also unique. They weren''t afraid to be their own kind of sexy. They were confident. I want to be like them. And darn it I will be.

Starting with the wardrobe changes I''m making.... and some TB
