So I've been having comfort issues with martini stud settings and finally decided to reset. I posted about possibly switching to leverbacks but the style didn't look that great on me so decided to stick with studs and just switch to 4 prong baskets. It just didn't make sense to me :Up_to_something: to reset without upgrading as well. I wanted to see a difference on the ears so chose to go from 6.5mm (1ct) to 7mm (1.3ct) stones. Both are SI2 with twinning wisps so completely eyeclean to me.

I went back to IDJ to trade in the old studs and Yekutiel found 2 great GIA 3X stones with ideal specs. As usual, Yekutiel and everyone in his office were super helpful and super nice. Excellent customer service and very easy to do business with IDJ.

Also, I posted some time ago looking for feedback on Chrysmela backs as the regular butterfly backs just don't work for me. I was given Chrysmela as a gift recently and really like wearing them. They feel much more secure than butterfly ones so I'm not worried about losing the studs anymore.

Onto the pics!!

Wow! Gorgeous! Those are some serious studs!

Oh great pic's BabyMonster--they look wonderful, really bright & substantial on your ear :) Good choice!  I am also considering replacing my martini setting on my new studs with a basket setting. What were the comfort issues for you with the martini settings? Did the basket settings help? My old pair is a basket setting, I think they do not droop like the martini setting does. TBD here....nonetheless, enjoy your new bling!! :lickout:

Perfect size on you and gorgeous diamonds! I need to put studs on my list!

Thanks Jambalaya, tyty333 and EC4me :wavey:

Thanks! The pointy end of the martini setting started to irritate my piercing. The baskets helped with that problem as they have a flat back that doesn't slide into the piercing hole.

Ah, you and Sarah are really helping me at this moment! I am trying to decide on size and color of studs upgrade!

These look really gorgeous and very clean for SI2!!! Awesome!   Can you tell a lot of difference between H and J? I am debating about H vs I color. I have H now and am a little hesitant to go to I.

I also am upgrading from 6mm and not sure where to land size wise, but you and Sarah both chose around 1.3 cts and 7mm. It is so hard to decide all this without trying them on! Your pictures with the old studs and the new do help, though!

I do prefer low 4 prong baskets myself. They sit flat against the ear and I have zero problem with them drooping.

Very happy for your new studs! They look great on you! :appl:

those are gorgeous! I need to reset my studs as they just aren't for me, can I ask what you didn't like about the lever backs? Thanks so much. So, these are set lower than your first?

Wow they're fabulous  They look beautiful and perfect on you, you must be so excited!

Ah, these studs are so chique! Great photo's by the way. Your studs look fabulous on you

Thanks DS :wavey:

I can tell the difference between H and J. Is it huge? Not really as the Js were very sparkly stones and it's so hard to tell color while they are on the ear. The solitaire in the photos is I/SI2 and I can't see the difference with the studs next to it.

As far as size goes, I regularly wear 12mm pearls with no overhang so my earlobes have lots of territory :wink2:. I bought a couple cz studs to test out the size and 7mm ones seemed like a good fit for me so I recommend figuring out the sizing that way. Can't wait to see what you pick!

Thanks :wavey:

I have long dark hair that I wear down most of the time. The plain leverbacks get lost in it so there is no visual oopmh for me. The only way leverbacks would be visible would be to add halos and that just makes them too dressy for my everyday life. If I had short hair, maybe the leverbacks would look better on me. The new ones are set at about the same depth.

Gorgeous! :appl:

Ooooo Baby Monster, they are stunning! Your first photo is really good. They look really large on your ears. I have never seen backs like that before, can they be purchased in the US. I am a fan of the basket 4 prong screw back and hoping to trade up my earrings this year but will still use a basket mounting, can you explain how the chrysmela back secures the earring.

Your upgrade is beautiful! Love the ear shots.

Thanks so much!

They are a perfect size with your diamond ring. :appl:

Beautiful studs - congrats on the upgrade!!

Wow, they look amazing on you congrats!!!!
