Hi there,
I have been reading this forum for a while and I am a first time poster. I have been looking for an engagement ring for my girlfriend and I was wondering what people here thought of strong blue fluorescence. My girlfriend's birthstone is aquamarine and I have seen a few pictures of diamonds with strong blue fluorescence in UV light that I rather enjoyed the look of because it seems somewhat unique. I have read that this can also make a diamond that is a lower color grade appear brighter, in the experience of people here is this true?
I have been comparing a few diamonds on the HCA and some that show ideal cut on Bluenile aren't scoring very high on the HCA while some that score Very Good are scoring fairly high. I have seen a number of diamonds in person and I understand the cut scoring but I don't really understand the HCA, if HCA is higher on a very good stone than an ideal stone would the very good cut look better?
Final question is in relation to diamond clarity. I was considering buying an internally flawless stone but after reading here it seems that VS2 or higher wouldn't be likely to show flaws face up. The stone size I am looking for is 0.7-0.8; any larger than that and my girlfriend would probably be annoyed that I spent too much money.
Thank you for your help and I appreciate all of the knowledge people on this board possess.
