I’ve been a lurker for the last couple months and wanted your thoughts on something. About 2 months ago, I upgraded my set to a Scott Kay. We went to Charleston Alexander (where 16 years ago we bought the diamond) and found a SK set we liked. Unfortunately that set didn’t lay right on my hand so I got another SK set that did lay right. Well as we do, we tend to look more after we buy, and I went to another jewelry store and saw the SK set we first looked at and it was gorgeous and did lay right on my hand. Come to find out Charleston Alexander had the wrong W-ring paired with the E-ring. You’d think the SA would have noticed (esp since we commented on them not lining up). So 2 days later, I went back got the set we liked first with the correct matching band. They have a 7 day return policy. Here’s my question for you guys, they charged me $200 (they had to resize the ring and also mount/unmount my diamond) to make the change. I’m a little annoyed b/c I wouldn’t have made the $200 mistake if they had the rings correctly matched or the SA noticed that they weren’t the right match. Am I in the right or the wrong here? It’s really been bugging me. Also another thing is the SA told us that SK was only a few hundred more than a noname (Well that sure isn’t true). I know I should have done some research but my husband pounced b/c he knew if we left there that I’d talk myself out of it (and he was right!) it is gorgeous though …and I know you guys love pics but I’ve tried and can’t get my camera to focus! Thanks.
