Seems like it has flor. Most diamonds do not show color under black light, only ones with flor to my knowledge.

This method should not be applied to blue colored diamond...is it true?

To me the photo shows an inert ( non fluorescent) diamond reflecting back the UV lamp.

Diamonds that are fluorescent can look blue in the same situation- but there''s also other shades such as White, and Orange

I agree, RD. My diamond with SB fluorescence glows blue under a black light, but it is only the stone that glows, not the setting. It's very eery. I'll try to get some photos posted.

ETA: Guess I don't need to round up any photos. The photo RD posted depicts the phenomenon nicely.

I guess, you are right...What makes a diamond beautiful? It''s all about diamond brilliance!

I went to an estate sale and they had and auction here also for most of the jewelry. One blue stone caught my attention because it was blasting with brilliance...I asked to see it under black light. Under supervision, I took many pictures of the piece indoor and outdoor and under the black light. I did not purchased the piece at the auction but I still curious about it. More pics...

If the photo is at all accurate, it does NOT look like a natural blue dimaond

That does not look like a diamond in the last set of pics.

first thought was topaz - looks kinda like my cheapie studs, honestly, complete with transparency effects.

one more picture...and thanks to everyone.
