I was just given a link to this super fun toy: http://www.diamdb.com/diamond/1.3ct-pear/

This site allows you to put in your exact stone dimensions (cut, carat and mm), as well as your finger length and diameter and shows you what that stone would look like on your finger. You can also compare what different stone sizes/cuts would look like next to each other. It also tells you if the stone has adequate surface area or is too deep, but that part is specifically set to diamond standards not colored gems. It even has a buying guide for what characteristics buyers who are new to the jewelry world should look for and what to be cautious of.

All of the recommended vendors even have the Pricescope seal of approval. Other than this board this is the most useful tool I've ever seen for people who are learning about choosing loose stones.

That's a really cool tool. Thanks!
