Stone:

50 point, VS2, E Ideal Cut, Canadian Diamond (Not that Canadian Diamond matters, but I personally think it''s cool being Canadian myself)

I did get to see the little binder the stone was in but failed to jot down all the specifics, but assuming that the stone is what it claims to be I am being given a price of 3K (Canadian) and he''ll throw in custom built band for free.

Got to see it under a firescope, and got to compare it to some lower grade stones, really good H&A etc. I want to check it out again before I buy it will all the knowledge my research has given me...

No other place I have gone to has been able to come close to this person on cost vs. quality.. to get close to the same stone at other stores I am at least a thousand or more above this cost, plus the price of the band. SO my question is, is this price/deal too good to be true? is there a catch that I am not seeing, the store is Belgium Diamonds.. http://www.belgiumdiamonds.ca/ I liked the store I liked the owner and sales staff who spend a lot of time with me and were not giving me the scare tatics (see below)

I would also love some store recomendations in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) if anyone knows of them.

I went to Spence (Ya I know) and had a pretty bad experience.. basically the guy there bad mouthed every place I had been to, to the point of insisting that the stones they were talking about would not be the quality that I was told they were and that "Papers can be faked" etc.. that the only way I was going to get a quality rock with any warranty to speak of was to go with spence...

needless to say I was not impressed.. however it did bring up a question... is it normal to get the loose stone from the jewler and take it somewhere to get the stats confirmed? to have a 2nd party say yes.. this is a 50 point VS2 E Ideal Cut stone...

If so can anyone recomend a place/person to do this in the GTA.

Assuming that the diamond "is" an ideal cut diamond with legitimate grading from a laboratory such as the GIA or AGS then the price isn't bad at all, especially for a brick and mortar environment.

Don't know anything about Spence's etc, but it is unfortunate that whoever you talked to feels so insecure about his / her own abilities and the quality of their product that they feel it necessary to bash every other jewelry store in the area... Kind of makes you wonder who they're describing

It is always adviseable to have a diamond and jewelry purchase evaluated by an independent gemologist to verify the quality of the item regardless of who you purchase it from. By "independent" we are referring to a gemologist who is not employed by, nor directly affiliated with a jewelry store so that they are more likely to be impartial in their evaluation of the item.
