Hello again-

Searching still for stones; going to make a trip to a B&M today (The Source in Rochester, NY) to get a little more examination time and try to learn more about SI1s.
This is (at least I''m planning) going to be put into a white gold / platinum setting with two small sapphires on the sides, maybe .3 or .5 carat each.

Thanks again!

Stones #5 and #8 have a bit more info, so there is more to comment on. In fact, little can be said about the others with the numbers available.

Between #5 and #8, #5 is the winner - in my view. It gets a higher mark for potential light return (by HCA) and the "medium" girdle reds much better than the unsteady "Medium-thick" on #8.

I would discard the VS from the list: eye clean SI would be a better buy anyway. A bit of fluoresncence would make the H even more attractive - in my view. Otherwise, #5 remains the winner all the way.

What kind of lab reports came with these?

The prices you've been quoted seems to be really fair. I would be careful with EGL graded stones --expecially the first, which seems to be EGL Israel graded... EGL stones can be excellent values as long as you know what you're buying. That particular stone seems to have great numbers, but keep in mind that those are rounded to the nearest full 1%, so they are not that accurate.
Is the store able to get Sarin reports for you?

The Certs I have for #5 and #8 are EGL - 5 was emailed, 8 was on the web.

I am terribly concerned about visible inclusions- her sister has just gotten engaged and has one visible thru the table. I already *know* that's unacceptable ;-) from their comments...

I've kicked around the idea of moving to an SI1 to spend more money on the setting, but I was also shooting for a nice diamond. I saw a 'clarity enhanced' one that was nearly 1K$ less with no visible inclusions, but I'm leary of that.

Thank you!

*EDIT*
#5 EGL cert not readable (tho I have the number on it)242245831 (appears to be)
$8 EGL cert from LA 75239302D

SI1-s should be eye clean. No worries. You will get to see the stone anyway, right?

The data on those two indicate EGL certs, so does the price, but how can one tell which EGL from the data above ?

Also, a 'clear' inclusions plot usually means bad scan copy of the cert or incomplete report.
