The Tsavorite ring is supposed to be my birthday pressie, but it''s still not ready. Oh well, I''d rather Leon take his time and do a great job.
So is your birthday coming up soon, or have we missed it?

Oh, and I always love it when ''both'' is a viable option. Makes things so much easier!

I''ve almost finalised my decision and will stop bothering you all soon. So, 1 mushroom-set micropave band and 1 brightcut DNA band. 2 more questions: (a) Any idea how thick each band should be (in the DNA''s case, each strand)? My e-ring shank is 1.6mm; and (b) Any milgrain for the DNA? Last questions, I promise.

Yay! Sushi is a fabulous way to celebrate birthdays!

I have no idea how to answer your last questions, but I am sure, whatever you choose, they will look marvelous.

Bigger band = bigger diamonds. 6mm on the mushroom and 2mm for each DNA strand should do the trick!

Bigger = Better?

What about the milgrain?

When you''re right, you''re right!

Milgrain on the DNA? Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Leon''s current version is milgrained. I''m wondering whether to do away with it since my e-ring band is smooth.

OK, did I miss it? How will you wearing this collection of deliciousness? All on the same finger? DNA w/ ering w/ mushroom band? Or a different variation? I guess it doesn''t really matter. I like milgrain with plain rings, too. What do you prefer? It might be nice to have a wedding ring with milgrain since your tsav has it. Will your spinel?

I will be alternating the bands. Sometimes, I''ll wear just the DNA without my solitaire. Yes, on the same finger. I don''t know what I prefer. I didn''t even realise that my new Tsavorite ring had milgrain until someone pointed it out! The spinel will be mushroom-set.

My vote will be the DNA w/ milgrain. Final answer. Does anyone still say that? Oh lord, I''m so out of the loop (loupe-heehee)! I don''t watch much TV (except for Food Network) so I don''t know what the cool things are to say anymore.

I would definitely do the DNA band with milgrain. I think that ring really would look incomplete without it.

It''s from a game show. I really don''t watch TV either, so I can''t remember the name of the show!

DS dear,
What about widths?

Wasn''t it Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? When Regis hosted it I think. I guess you guys watch less TV than I do!

It was before my time. ;)

Harriet-

How thick is the one on his website? It looks like it is very proportional, so I''d ask him his opinion. I would stay at the very most 1.8mm thin per "strand" and at the very least 1.5mm per strand. Total width, maybe 4mm (at most).

Also, I agree w/ DS about the millegraine...I think it needs it because if you don''t have it, it doesn''t look like the bands "cross over" each other (ie. creates shadow effect) but rather are just 1 single set of waves...if that makes ANY sense.

I would also go with milgrain and I would get very thin strands, 1.5mm to make it feel delicate and less thick.

I don't like them too thin because the diamonds are soooo tiny that they really don't show as well. I had ordered a Daniel K band to compare with my Tiffany Legacy 2mm band and there was no comparison. The 2mm Legacy was gorgeous and the DK was just too think to even really sparkle. I wouldn't go under 1.8 on any ring and prefer 2mm on a single band ring. I'd really trust Leon's judgement on the DNA band, though.

The effect of the milgrain is to soften the edges. It really allows the diamonds to shine. I am picky about milgrain being very fine, though. Tiffany's is and I am certain Leon's is. But I have seen some by other custom ring makers that I thought was not as well done.

Thanks ladies. With respect to the DNA, I'll go with milgrain and ask Leon to make the whole thing as delicate as possible. I asked him if the micropave band could be 1.6mm, like my e-ring, but he said that would be too thick. DS is right. Leon says that if diamonds are too wee, they lose their effect.

Wait...1.6mm would be too thick or too thin? I know you said thick, but then talked about how the stones can''t be too small, so I''m confused.

While the micropave ring is gorgeous, Leon''s DNA band is simply stunning! It''s also substantial enough for you to wear on it''s own. Personally, the DNA gets my vote!
I agree, I think you should get the DNA.

Sorry! Leon''s expert opinion is that 1.6 is too thick for the micropave band. As for the DNA bad (and in general), melee can''t be too small (I don''t remember his rationale).

For real?!?! How thin does he want you to go? 1.4?

I think he said 1.3-4.

Well, if Leon says it, it becomes law. I would trust his eye. And, Harriet, it''s not like you lift bricks for a living. I think it will be delicate and beautiful! Teensy tinsy diamonds are my favorite...Just behind GIGANTIC ones.

No worries, thanks for the clarification.
