Stick pin Conversion

I recently purchased a cute little stick pin and converted it into a pendant! I'd reached out to a jeweler and they said it would take $80-200 to do it, ouch!

So I took to Amazon and purchased a cheap $8 set of jewelry tools and voila!

Anyone else have any stick pin conversions to share? :)

Wow, nicely done! That looks great as a pendant.

I love it!

That looks great, and you saved so much doing it yourself!

I converted a few stick pins, I can't find the end results (this was back in 2017) but this was one of the stick pins:

Platinum and diamonds, it was gorgeous, I ended up selling it on Etsy but I was too chicken to do it myself and had a jeweler convert it.

I don’t have one to share but yours is so lovely!

What tools did you buy? Teach us! You did a fabulous job!

Thanks all!

I ordered these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XZUCLE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I really only used two of them. All I did was snip off most of the stick portion and use the pliers to bend the stick (that was still connected) into a U shape to make a hoop. That's it! But now that I've done one...oh the possibilities :)

The pin also came in quite shoddy condition- the seller apparently cleaned it with some solution and didn't dry it properly -it was covered in crusty green grime (you can still see some left in the middle). I should've taken a picture of what it looked like when I got it in the mail, it was so terrible I almost wanted return it! Good thing I pushed through and spent a good hour soaking and cleaning it.

Thanks For the info!!!
That’s kinda what I thought but wanted to make sure. Chain doesn’t slip out of the loop?
It amazes me how some jewelry looks when it’s sold. My bench here in Denver says sometimes people come in with rings that are so crusted over they’re scared to clean cause they worry the dirt is the only thing holding the ring together.

I’m really loving stick pin conversations! My hummingbird was a stickpin turn brooch turned pendant.087830BA-9EE2-4A40-B94F-73CFD06748FA.jpeg

I bent it in a way where it's actually quite flush against the charm itself. I did a few test dangles but I don't see it going anywhere unless something really knocked it hard.

Oh gosh, it pains me to see such beautiful jewelry wither away and not being cared for!

So lovely!

I’m glad I found this thread because I am down the stickpin rabbit hole. I am dying for a Victorian snake pendant and thought of converting a brooch or a pin. Unfortunately those darn slithery serpents are so expensive because everybody likes snake jewelry evidently. If I find one I want then I am happy to have found this thread so maybe I could do the conversion myself.
