I have found a beautiful setting by Steven Kirsch for a solitaire ring. I've received a quote for R0208 from Steven, with the following modifications to the picture: Plain band, rose gold, 1.25 ct radiant diamond. What I love about Steven's designs is the pave along the prongs, high quality melee and unique designs.

However, I live in Milwaukee, and would prefer to work with a jeweler in Chicago/Milwaukee area. Any recommendations to find a Steven Kirsch alternative in my area? I've looked at James Allen and White Flash, but none seem to have designs similar to Steven's.

Just go with Steven, the vast majority work with him via long distance. The only other person I'd trust to make that setting is Victor Canera in CA.

I will add that I would not make that ring with diamonds on the side of the shank if she intends to wear a wedding band. The diamonds will ruin her band.

Thanks for the extra advice on the side shank diamonds. I hadn't thought of that yet.

My apologies, Amanda, for not paying attention earlier and realizing that this is a ring you are researching for yourself! We have just seen problems in the past with 3 sided pave, and it is just better for metal to touch metal.

There really aren't alternatives to Steven Kirsch - if there were more that could do this quality of work, we would see a lot more on PS being recommended. I am sure there are more but we may not have found them yet. So far we have on our list Steven Kirsch, Leon Mege, Victor Canera and Mike Robinson (not taking work) among our coveted list.

If you head to Chicago, go to 5 South Wabash which is a jewelry building and see if you there are any that you like. Many do not service consumers but you will still find a bunch that will.

I have a three-sided pave band and for everyday wear a plain band with it and for fancier occasions wear a spacer with *gasp* another three-sided pave band. I've been married a month and my plain band is well on its way to getting totally chewed up. I'm okay with that because I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll have to replace the plain/spacer bands frequently and probably my main setting a few times over the course of my life. Not everyone would be though and that's a decision you have to make on your own. For me, the look of three-sided pave is worth the extra care and the possibility of damage. It isn't for everyone.

Images Jewelers in Elkhart, Indiana isn't exactly in the region you requested but is not too far away. They've made some nice pieces. I have seen pics on other boards like sim boards, etc.

You can check out Dimend Scassi maybe? I don't know how their pave work compares to SK, but they look to make nice pieces.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I agree, Steven Kirsch is definitely one of a kind. I'm going to give Steven a call to discuss, plus I'll look at the options on Wabash Ave in Chicago, and check out the Indiana place.
