I would say mine takes the same, maybe less.I have a Rowenta steamer (not hand held.)

I've used ones like Ellen posted in the past. In my experience they take forever to heat up, and I just don't have that kind of time--those are more commercial grade and are built to last through daily heavy use. The Rowenta I posted takes about 45 seconds. The tanks on those Jiffys need to be specially cleaned every so often. The Rowenta doesn't require any special cleaning, it's just a removable plastic tank that you refill as needed. I steam everything now--don't own an iron anymore. I steam drapes, tablecloths, my clothes, my daughter's clothes, you name it. The only thing it isn't great for is getting a crisp press or crease in anything. I've had it for two years and am really happy with it.
