Hi PSers,

Can someone please show me how to properly accessorize with fine-jewelry? If you have a statement RHR with plenty of finger coverage, what do you like to wear on the left? I would love to see pictures on how to enjoy your bling for daily wear. I love my 5 stone band but the nature of it is so much bling that even wearing a simple eternity band on the left almost makes it seem bigger. I appreciate the help and thanks in advance!

Post a picture of what you are wearing.

The original e-ring on my left. It was pre-PS days so I've thought about possibly resetting or converting into a pendant. I appreciate the help!

@PierreBear your desire to convert makes even more sense now! Your e-ring seems to have a sizeable diamond, do you just not enjoy wearing an e-ring anymore? I think that an ering on one hand with a nice sizable band on the other is a great combo.

Very pretty 5 stone, and lovely e-ring!

I have a 2.59tcw 5 stone. On those rare occasions I wear it, I wear my original wedding band , a plain 5mm satin platinum band with diamonds on one side on my left hand, and the 5 stone on my right.

I like the widths of the rings to be the same or similar.

I'm with elle chris. Say if I'm at the office, one big ring on my right hand, wear something small or nothing at all on left (does no one wear fashion watches any more?). Of course if you are having a night out, or for whatever reason, can wear e-ring on left, and 5 stone on right.
It's really what you feel comfortable with.

I do not wear my RHR every day as it is too blingy.
When I do wear it for dressier occasions, I would wear one of my nicer CS or pearl rings on the left hand.
Only one ring per hand.
DK :))

Screw "proper".

Proper is whatever you like.

I have a two carat five stone ring that I wear on my right hand. On the left, I wear my ering with 2.2 center, .33 each sidestones and a .78 channel set band. I quite like the balance between the two hands!

Hello SimoneDi! Hope you are doing well. I appreciate you connecting the dots that I might be having second thoughts about my rings. The e-ring though not a well cut stone is close to 1.5 CT so I think the diameter is about a little over 7 mm. I think there is still beauty to the e-ring but after seeing more examples on PS, I would have preferred that classic tiffany type look with the plain shank and 6 prongs. There are countless examples on making the center stone the star but I think to hit the right proportions, I would prefer something larger than my current stone. Wish I had used White Flash for their wonderful upgrade policy but once again, it was pre PS days so it's not a viable option for me. There is an upgrade anniversary ring in the future that will be in yellow gold but I think I would like to keep a platnium set to have some variety. Just trying to figure out ways how to love my rings though tastes have changed. I appreciate your kind commentary that the ering and band gets a thumbs up in your book. I think I went overboard on the RHR to compensate for the ering so I guess I'm a bit sensitive to it perhaps not complimenting the look and going beyond the classy side. Maybe it's all in my head! I honestly don't get many comments on my 5 stone so perhaps I just need to step back and take a deep beath or just make more friends with bigger bling than me. : )

Thanks for your thoughts! I think I stopped wearing fashion watches once I started carrying a phone with me all the time. I like the look of it on other people though!

Arggg I hate the idea of something sitting in my jewelery box and not being used or saving it for a special occasion. Or maybe it just means I need a date night more often?! haha... I def feel the need to wear something on my left though (unless I'm at the gym) to show that I am married. What is your something small that you pair with your big RHR?

Dannggg girl! I like your confidence. I think I found my bling mentor. If I hung around you in real life, I don't think I would feel like how I wear my current set isn't ideal. Would love to see a picture of the two together (I know it's hard to take a photo unless you have a helper) if you already have one to share.

I had to laugh at your last sentence! :D You have certainly arrived at the right place when it comes to making friends with big bling, but I understand how the world outside of PS is slightly different. I have found that many people would not comment on diamonds, some feel intimidated by them, some are slightly jealous and some don't care at all, so I wouldn't let the fact that you have not received multiple compliments be any indication of how beautiful or not your 5 stoner is! I personally love 5 stone rings because they are so blingy and I actually vividly remember yours from the PS thread! If I recall correctly, it has 40pt each, BGD signature and you have a ridiculously small finger (I will call it a 4 :lol-2:). It is a beautiful ring!

Now onto your diamond ring - we can't let the past upset us, you are lucky to have found PS and be able to make smart diamond decisions now. When you visited Brian Gavin, did you have him take a look at your existing stone? I promote this always, but do consider a recut please. I have had BGD recut 2 stones in the past for me and I just sent them a new one. Last time was pretty special because the stone came out so well that they offered to brand it and I later traded it toward an upgrade! Now this won't happen always, but I guess what I am trying to say is that even though you did not purchase the e-ring from a super-ideal vendor, you still have the option to have an ideal cut "makeover" and sometimes you may even be able to buy into their upgrade options if the recut is that good. The recuts have always been amazing for me, so I would definitely look into the option! Weight loss is minimal and the cost is very reasonable, at least in my view.

If you are not happy with your existing setting anymore and know that you want to change it, I would call DK as I earlier advised and see what he can do about converting it into a band. Or I did see another suggestion to place in a colored stone. Just make sure that you go with an option that will be more wearable to you.

Both of your rings are beautiful and I am sure that we can help you convert your e-ring and reach a LH/RH bling balance :)

I always wear an engagement ring and wedding band on my left hand regardless of what I wear (if anything) on my right. If I felt that was too much to wear the 5 stone band and a wedding set, I'd wear the 5 stone band on my left as an alternative to my wedding set.

I love your engagement ring and would wear it on the left with the 5 stone on the right.

I would happily wear your engagement ring on the left hand and that gloriously sparkly bling-bomb on the right. And I wouldn't feel too awkward about it (or at least if I did, it would be forgotten as I got distracted by the 5-stone sparkliness :lol-2:)

I would wear that wedding set proudly! If you would prefer your diamond in a different setting then go for it. I am of the opinion that jewelry is meant to be worn and enjoyed - not languishing in a box. Wearing rings on both hands is done all the time so if you have pretty diamonds to wear, enjoy them!

Thanks @foxinsox! If I had two pug doggies, I would be playing with them constantly and be distracted about both rings. Adorable avatar. Thanks for your commentary!

@AprilBaby - Thanks for the kind words on the engagement ring and 5 stone combo. You know I've been wearing it that way for over a year now and I have more hesitation now surprisingly than when I first started wearing the 5 stone.

I agree! It's my philosophy with other things as well. Enjoy things while they can. Thanks again for the encouragement on the set and glad that you are enjoying yours as well.

Oh gosh... I can't believe anyone would recognize my modest and not very unique bling on PS. You are making me blush as you did recall those facts correctly. I'll have to give credit to my mom for the small finger size but it makes it really hard to try on rings in the store to try and figure out what looks fitting for the hand!

I'm glad that you had such a wonderful experience with stone recutting. Excited to see how your new recutting project will turn out!! I am happy with the end result of the 5 stone ring but actually didn't have the best experience with BG. The interaction with my representative was great but my actual conversations with the owner himself wasn't very pleasant but maybe it was just an off experience/day/situation. I'll just leave it simply that I had not planned on doing repeat business but I think if there was an opportunity to recut and upgrade, I would consider it again. Just sent them an email to see if they a recut could guarantee an upgrade. If they can't, I don't think I would recut it. I don't have issue with the performance of the stone but it's more so the setting looking a bit too busy and the size.

I have a hard time knowing what looks good on my hand until I actually see it on my finger/hand. If I went with a 6 prong plain shank Tiffany look what size stone or mm do you think I would need to balance out that 40pt 5 stone band? Or am I going down the same rabbit hole that I might feel that it is too much for daily wear but I keep thinking that seeing some of that plain shank will make it less "bling" and more balanced as well.

Yes, thanks for the advice on reaching out the DK to convert it to a band. Quite honestly, I love the idea of saving the materials but not sure what I would do with another band. I have a matching wedding band but I don't wear it with the e-ring since I feel like it takes away from the center stone even more. I'll be contemplating the bling balance and take my time with it but am thankful for the support from the lovely SimoneDi! Hope you have a great day!

Ok, I will start addressing some of your points backwards;

I don't think that there is necessarily a size that your center stone needs to be in order to "match" or balance your 5 stone ring. I think that especially due to your small ring size, most stones look larger on you. I think that your existing center stone looks pretty large. Resetting it into a simple solitaire may provide a better balance as the attention will be only on the stones and not on any pavè. Victoria Swarovski wears a large solitaire on her left hand and a sizable eternity on the right. You choice check or her IG account and spy for photos, but here is one that sort of shows her rings. I like the look - it is bold, yet classic and she can pull it off.

If you don't think that you want another band, then that is ok. You can just sit on the setting for a bit and figure out later what to do with it. I still even have some random older settings that I haven't decided what to do with. Attend to the more important for you decisions first.

A recut to me is always a good option even if an upgrade cannot be guaranteed. I did see your diamond specs in a different thread and there is definitely room for improvement. That said, I am sorry that you didn't have a great experience with BG. I have never talked to Mr Gavin per se, but the staff as well as Lesley have always been nice to work with. However, if you are not comfortable working with them, then I have heard that WF, GOG and CBI also provide recut options. Not sure if all of them still do, but we can find out. Lastly, if you are happy with the stone's performance, then you can simply reset it into solitaire and see how you enjoy that for a bit.

It is possible that the 5 stone is very blingy and a large look for you. You could think about upgrading the stones, but going down in size to 30pt or so. Perhaps that will give you the confidence to wear the 5stone with other "bling" and not feel conscious about it, or that it is too much bling.

I think that a good idea will be to visit a jeweler and try some solitaires to confirm that you like the look on you. Also try some 5 stone bands with 30pt or so each. I see that you have been thinking for a while about changing up the look, so make sure that whatever you do is the rite decision and not a rushed one or influenced by others opinions. You need to be happy with your own rings ;)

I'd definitely wear a wedding band with the engagement ring, I don't think a thin matching diamond band could possibly take away from the large diamond in the engagement ring! But if it did, then I'd just have a plain or engraved metal band to wear with it.

Just wanted to let you know that your 5 stone ring is saved on my desktop as inspiration for mine; it seems your ring had more impact that you realised =)2

Mine too!!

No idea if they my rings look balanced, but this is what I usually wear. Sometimes I wear the e-ring with a w-band on the left, sometimes just the band on the left. The 5-stone is 2 carats and the e-ring is 1.6 if that helps.

Hello again! Thanks for introducing me to Victoria Swaovski. I did some stalking and concluded that if I was a tiny hot blonde who had no problems talking selfies, I would wearing bling on all my fingers! Man does her life look fun. Not the every day realistic life that we all live but yes she does pull off that fashion and that bling.

I did check into BG and a recut and upgrade isn't guaranteed and it just depends on how well the recut goes. I respect that policy so I think that option is out for me. I inquired with WF but I have a feeling the answer would be no but worth a shot. I've thought about getting it reset into the traditional solitaire like @nycspring who I thought had one of the best before and after photos. I hope she doesn't mind me linking to her thread but it is my model wedding set. I'm just not sure if I would have the same impact with the smaller stone since we have similar ring sizes. I would hate to transition into a solitaire and prefer my old setting... that would give me so much heart ache to change my original ering to something I disliked less.

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/2-01ct-rb-reset-into-vatche-u-113-thanks-to-idj.214093/

I don't think I'll make a change to the 5 stone band. I do still love it quite honestly and going down to 0.3 gave me the impression that they would have to change the setting. I rather use the funds on the possible ering change.

I've done my best visiting jewelers and stared at my hands until the sales people must be scratching their heads on what was going through my mind. It's hard for me to know since the rings they have in store don't fit my ring size and I think I just need to privately spend time with a ring to really know. I guess I get analysis paralysis when I have someone right in front of me.

Is this an improvement over my current set? The one on the left was trying on solitaires. I think it was a Tiffany 2.75 CT center. I prefer a thinner shank though.

I'll continue to think through it all. I greatly appreciate all your thoughtful comments to make sure I explored each avenue. I even put aluminum foil on my band to try and simulate that solitaire look. Hilarious... who have I become? But then again I'm talking to the smartest lady of all time who got a vendor to ask "how did you make that diamond stand up straight on your hand." hehehe way to use that tape, girl! Hope you have a great one!

You have beautiful hands and slender long fingers. You can wear anything and it will look stunning on you!

@Jacquiemalta @csloan215 - I am honored and glad to be a part of the journey. I know I relied on oodles of photos here on PS as well. Please feel free to reach out if I can be of assistance when the 5 stone process. Excited for ya'll!
