If I insure my ring under my homeowners, they have an option to get inflation coverage? Should I get this?

Don''t they need an updated apprasial every few years, anyway?

Thanks.

I''m thinking it''s one or the other in this case. If you think you won''t get your ring appraised every 3-5 years, then the inflation coverage may be a good idea. If you think you will remember or take the time to have your ring re-appraised periodically then I would say inflation coverage isn''t worth the additional cost if there is any. I''m no expert, of course, so I would ask your insurance agent what the difference is and see what they say. Do you know your agent pretty well and trust them not to just sell you something you might not need, or do you only deal with them once in a while?

In our case, my DH has known our insurance agent (State Farm also) since high school and she''s always been very good about giving us her honest opinion as far as what we really need to be paying for. For the record, we don''t pay for inflation coverage for my rings. I''m due to get an updated appraisal this year, actually. It''s been 5 years already since we got engaged!

My e-ring and anniversary ring are insured through our homeowners (also State Farm) and I do not carry inflation insurance. We have had the same agent for several years and they have always been very honest with us...the inflation insurance was never mentioned to us.
