It took a little while but I finally got an email from Luanne today. ( I guess she didn't have my correct email and it kept bouncing back.)

First she sent me the link to Price scope but nothing specific so I let her know I have read all your feeds about jackets like 10x ...and I wanted to know specifics about jackets for 7mm.

She send me CAD of potential jackets for 7mm diamond (mine are 1.20 and 1.21).

The only thing is she is not answering my questions. I keep asking her about 2, 3, 4, 5 pointers as i am not sure which are going to work with 7mm stud.

These cads show space for 22 stones so what is the total carate weight 1.00, .90 I am still unsure

I just sent her a reply email asking her all these questions.

One CAD is 20 stones per pair and the other is 24....Does this mean one is 2 pointers and the other 3 pointers or .90 and 1.00 any one want to chime in .

I like the first one best.

It does look like one has larger melee than the other.

I advise you to stop sending emails though and just pick up the phone and ask your questions. One phone call can be worth 10 emails.

I did speak to hear she wasn't really understanding and she wrote my email address down incorrectly. Plus I told her i'd be in the first week of January and she keeps asking if I can come in....

SOOOOO I decided not to get upset and just email her back.....

Gypsy i don't understand why all three sizes are the same carat weight do you think this is a mistake.

The frist one are 5 pointers and I am afraid that they will hang off my ears and be way to big which is why I think I have to try them on.

Re: Starting process for 7mm Diamond Stud Jackets by IDjewel

I prefer a more scalloped look with jackets so I would go with the 5 pointers, but it honestly depends how big your earlobes are, if you can carry it off. I have jackets that have alternating rounds and pears - the rounds are 8 pointers and the pears are 12 (from memory). No droop. If you get big earring backs they should support it without any problems.

And here are the carat weights for you:

5 pointers = 1.2tcw
3 pointers = 0.84tcw
2 pointers = 0.60tcw

thanks I was confused from what Luann gave me she wrote all three sizes were 1.2 lol... I really can't wait tio see my studs in them. My budget is $1000 so I eeither have to save more or get 3 pointers lol.....

Regarding yours can you show me photos and how big are your studs. My earrings are very close to the bottom of my lobe as it is so not sure I can carry the 5 and yes I also like the scalloped edges better.

Re: Starting process for 7mm Diamond Stud Jackets by IDjewel

The sapphires in my studs are 5.5mm - I also have cushion pink spinels that are 5.4mm and round tsavorites that are 5mm that all fit in the jackets (custom settings for each).

The earring jackets measure 16mm diagonally from the tip of the pear to the one in the opposite corner and 12mm square, so almost identical to your 5 pointer jackets. Having said that, they are dress earrings - I rarely wear them during the day.

Hope that helps!!

Sorry - just re-read my thread - the pears are bigger than I remembered @ 15 points each.

Re: Starting process for 7mm Diamond Stud Jackets by IDjewel

I LOVEYyou jackets so different. I have two issues 1. is cost I have $1000 (and hence 3 pointers are perfect. 2. think 5 pointers althoug hI prefer the scallop look make my bling to big. my studs are 1.20 each and I just think that my husband is already wondering why i need to bling up my studs.

I love my size but I sort of wanted a halo setting and got the martini instead. So I think I'm leaning toward the 3 ponters unless I drop dea fall in love with them when i try them on in person.

Mayy have to wait till valentine's day as all of a sudden 3 school payments and the holidays just hit us...

thanks for all your feedback.

Hi Heidi..
I totally have DSS cause I think the 5pt would be awesome. Then again, I have large lobes so... :(( I have 5pt in my ering & wedding band & by no means do I think it large. :errrr: I know the .90 ish ones can house a 5mm stone, but what does the larger one hold? I suppose it might become a cost prohibitive thing because if it houses a larger size mm stone, then you have to always buy a larger stone. Whereas a 5mm stone is doable in most circumstances being a coloured gem or diamond, but a larger mm diameter translates to a more costly purchase every time. I'm a bezel lover so I think the 5 pt would work best for someone like me who would most likely bezel my gems/diamonds. I'm following your thread with a lot of interest. LOL

Gypsy hit the nail on the head. I would call Luanne. I sent a few emails that weren't answered. I know a few of mine ended up in her Spam bin, but to expedite your project, I would call. :wink2:

No haviing large lobes is a good thing as my 5pointers hang off the edge. I have to admit I went up and down 47th street and tried on 2.5 total carat jackets and they were drop dead and $4800.....lol so not necessary.......
