Isabelle, it sounds to me as if you really like the prongs you have described here and should go with them. As you''re the only one that has seen them IRL at WF.Date: 5/30/2008 9:52:44 PM

Thank you guys so much! Just to clarify part of my decision making and also the facts behind my stone: First, I''m not a fan of single prongs for my ring b/c I have done that already and I want a change. So that''s out. The diamond isn''t 2.00 carats, so to whatever extent a larger stone requires double prongs, that is out too. The split prong I like is really a single prong split down part way. The heart prong I am considering is a lot like the split prong except that instead of being technically split it is just indented going to the point with a VERY slight heart shaped indentation where it first covers the diamond. So I am not really talking about noticeable ''hearts'' for the one, and I am not really talking about two separate prongs for the other. The best picture of the type of heart prong I had in mind that I could find today was Belle''s ring. But I saw it at WF''s offices and you can''t really tell they are heart shaped. They are just really subtle in that way. I think that when you blow up a picture on a computer screen things look much bigger and more pronounced than they appear in real life. I think this is certainly true with regard to heart prongs that are done the way I saw them at WF in person. I mean you honestly couldn''t tell they were ''hearts'' unless you stared at it after Brian pointed it out. I love both prong types but I am having a hard time choosing. I really appreciate everyone''s input and hopefully some other people will share their thoughts. THANK YOU GUYS AGAIN!![]()
Honey, you don''t have to justify your personal preference to us. It''s YOUR ring! If you love the heart prongs, get them! End of story.Date: 5/30/2008 9:52:44 PM

I love the Mark Morrell prongs, I always have. I love the split prongs too, but I would love a MM ring of my own, just for the prongs.![]()
Isabelle, I am in the same boat as you and DS on this one - I am going to have single claw prongs made soon that will *hopefully* look half as nice as DS''s!Date: 6/2/2008 9:57:16 AM

Diamondseeker, I am on the same page with you. I want subtle, subtle, subtle prongs. I want them to be so small for exactly the reason you articulate. I want the focus to be on the diamond.Thank you for your input. Your ring is really beautiful.

I am sure you have already thought of this, but your description I highlighted above just made me think perhaps slight ''security risk''..I''m sure you will be able to discuss this with your jeweler, but I would be cautious that the prongs weren''t so thin/small as to pose a risk to losing your stone, kwim?
It sounds like it will be a lovely project - my apologies if I missed it, but did you mention who you were having make it?
