spinels and spessartites

I love taking pictures of gemstones when the sky is overcast. Which is the kind of day I have here in the "lowcountry". So here they are. These are spinels.

Sorry they are so large. Here are the spessartites.

The stones are sitting on a plastic tupperware type cover. Pretty high tech huh?

Yum just want on a gloomy day. I need some spessartites, that is one not in my collection yet. I have a few loose stones but not one of those. HMMMM need a spinal also. Guess I need to do some shopping soon! More more!

Thank you ladies!! Well it is still dreary here so I thought I would take a few more pics. The first pic is some beyrls I have. Golden, aqua and a light morganite.

I know I know but where are the set stones. OK The heart shape is a ruby. Please excuse the finger print smudge on the stone. The other two are spinels.

I love coloured stones too. My jeweler just rang me yesterday to let me know that she has a cushion shape blue unheated sapphire (a shape which i have been looking for) and an unheated padparascha sapphire that has just arrived. I am going down this Thursday to take a look. My jeweler is a bad bad girl..

What a gorgeous collection.

The dark tsavorite looks like it will be very pretty in all different lights. Personally I like them slightly darker than most people.
