Spinel pairs

Would either of these look "ruby like" as earrings? They're from AJS.

The first pair are described as "A luscious fiery Spinel that glows like a Burmese Ruby. This gem has excellent saturation and gorgeous deep color."

The second set are "A well cut fiery gem, it is a beautiful red Spinel gemstone."

Thanks, ikitten. I know I've been spamming the board regarding this, but I so much respect what you folks think.

I think it depends what "red" you are looking for. The first pair look like they have a slight blue hue to them. They also look better matched for shape.

The first pair looks to be closer matched in shape. In terms of colour, they have a hint of purple but isn't saturated enough to be ruby-like. The second pair do not match well enough even to be earrings when one is obviously fatter than the other. Colour wise, they show a stronger orange modifier.
