Alright all you white people, the asian is here! Hahaha jk!! I like to eat instant rice once in a while but I feel like it never really hits the spot. I have always eaten calrose steamed rice. And I also like to mix that with... Dangit! I forgot the name of it... Its a wild rice and it makes the rice a purple color when cooked.... But its sooo gooooooood. Haha do u guys like spam? My husband cringes when I eat it or even cook it! Haha he''s like ummmm meat from a can? I say nay hahaha

California short grain brown rice.
Last I heard brown rice is whole grain with the bran coating so it is healthier.

I buy it in 25 pound bags and eat it 5 or 6 days a week.
I cook it in an old fashioned saucepan.
I cannot stand a lot of one-purpose specialized appliances or gadgets cluttering up my kitchen.

I soak it in water overnight to reduce cooking time, which saves fuel.

Jasmine rice here! DH often makes Thai curries over jasmine rice. Yum!

Basmati or Jasmine

For my authentic latin dishes, always white long grain (fav). For everyday, brown jasmine or brown basmati. Both very good.

Cooked.

Cooked rice is far more palatable than dry rice.

Long grain white rice

YayTacori, I know that purple thing you''re talking about! Isn''t it awesome? FI''s mom gave us a bag, so we played around with it, mixing it with different kind of stuff. Love it!
And we LOVE spam

Spam musubi, yuuuuum. To heck with cholesterol, salt and fat content. And we simply don''t think about where the meat came from

During the week I only eat brown rice.
HOWEVER, fried rice has to be with left over old rice, and curry has to be with jasmine rice. In fact, to me fried rice = left over crap, so it cooking rice for fried rice doesn''t make sense.

Short grain, sticky rice.

That''s for us too! FI likes Basmati and I love Jasmine rice so we have a bag of each to mix it up! But we don''t mix our rice we just take turns as to which rice gets cooked.

I don''t like any rice.

Jasmine rice, however its whatever I can find at the local grocery which they seem to carry Jasmine rice in like 3lbs bag.

I love brown rice, but my husband is Vietnamese, so he''ll only eat Jasmine rice. We get it in big, big bags from the Chinese market near our house.

The dirtier looking the better. I LOVE the grainy stuff. And that mexican yellow rice my dad used to make really hits the spot too.

Yes yes yes! Yummmmmmm!! I love brown rice, thickest shells I can get.

Also love saffron rice, but of course that''s more a method of preparation than a type of grain.

Can''t forget coconut sticky rice

Oh God the world would be an inhumane place without coconut sticky rice...if anything would drive me to murder it's probably that. I threaten to stab DH with my fork every time I have it

I love all rice, basmati, jasmine, wild (which isn't actually rice BTW, it's a grass), short grain, sticky, Chinese black, arborio, etc....

Most of the time, Jasmine rice from Thailand. If available, I also get Basmati rice and the fancy purple rice. That said, I never turn down any offers coconut rice (nasi lemak) or chicken rice (kai fun).

I love all types.Depends on what is on menu.I like brown the best.

Oh yay! I''m glad you know what I''m talking about! Isn''t it the best? Yum!

They sell it at costco! Now we can go there and buy a ginormous bag the size of texas! Woot!

Hahaha and spammmmmmm mmmmmmm. Hahaha yes, I do try to not think about why its meat in a can and why its like compressed haaha. Its gooood. But hey, I do buy the "lite" kind hahaha
Like that makes a difference!

I''m an equal-opportunity rice-eater -- brown, white, basmati, jasmine, arborio, you name it (except Minute rice...can''t stand the stuff) but DH likes a kind of rice that''s apparently impossible to find in the US. If I can find medium-grain white rice, that''s what I use for his favorite dishes. If not, I usually sub in arborio cooked like regular rice, rather than the risotto method.

Definitely Jasmine. Love the flavour.

Depends on what is for dinner. Most ofen is aged basmatti. After that probably jasmine and then arborio.
