hello everyone, i hope someone can help me out. I''m trying to help out a friend of mine. He wants to buy his wife an anniversary band of some sort, after casually talking to her I brought up jewelry and she said that she really likes emerald cuts, but she just didn''t feel they were sparkly enough. So my question is this, is there a cut that is kind of like an emerald cut, but has more fire? I was thinking asscher cut. Thanks for any input.

Does she like the square shape? Maybe a Princess or Princess of Hearts?

If it''s the shape of the emerald cut that she likes then perhaps elongated radiants are a good option?

hmmm....those are both great suggestions. I wish i asked what about the emerald cut she liked...darn it. Thank you Skippy123 and Dee*Jay!

Sure, Good Old Good sells the Princess of Hearts, not sure if they can do it in an eternity type ring.

so nice of you to help a friend!!!

there''s a few modified emerald cuts with more facets to make them more brilliant.

criss cut emerald cut
prince cut emerald cut
tycoon cut

There''s just a price premium and a small availability.... but for a die hard emerald fan that''s aware of their shortcomings.... these are something to think about.

An asscher is pretty close to an emerald cut (step cut) except it''s square so that is not a real sparkly stone.

If she likes EC's you might want to consider french cut baggs. Single Stone has some pictures. Look on page 4 of eternity bands, ring 3. They're rectangular, like all baggs, but a precursor of the Kriss-cut. The give more sparkle than an EC eternity will.

Evelynn took this great shot of SS eternity bands. The top leftmost is the full french cut bagguette eternity

thank you all so so much. I''m going to pass this on to her husband, I know he had wanted to give her the ring as an anniversary gift, but that''s only two weeks away ! Maybe i can talk him into waiting till after their first baby is born and giving her the ring as a anniversary/maternity ring, that way we can make sure get this juuuuuust right. Thanks again.

As a fellow EC owner, I agree 100% that you have to LOVE the "less-is-more" look to wear them :) I would go for a radiant band, or even an asscher one (they seem to sparkle a little more).

More so than the emerald cut when both are well cut.
It also depends on how you define sparky they are one of the most fiery cuts when cut right but will never be the brightest in white light return.
