Southern California Manhunt

I don't think he took his own life. This guy is trained, so it's much easy for him to know where/how to hide out. We just found out that our cousin is friend with the victim's family. The family isn't allow contact with anyone, but she did chat with the brother online. I hope no one else gets hurt.

I don't know if this million dollar reward is a good or bad thing. We were at the Olive Garden today and found out that someone spotted him in the lowes closeby. It turned out to be untrue but the police were out in full force and it was a bit scary. I really hope that he doesn't get a chance to hurt anyone else.

Looks like they have just announced a $1million reward for his capture.

I have a very different theory, one that could easily be proven wrong at any moment, but I wonder if he didn't take his own life already which is why they aren't finding any new evidence of his whereabouts. Just a thought.
Well I hope they find out very soon. They just shot at another innocent man looking for this guy! Thank God he wasn't hit. But this is getting ridiculous.

Wow really? I'm going to look it up now!

Link from the LA Times: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-torrance-shooting-20130210,0,3955268.story?track=rss

Not "just" - this actually happened on Thursday not long after the women delivering papers were shot at, and it also involved the City of Torrance's police department.

My mistake. It popped up on one of my newsfeeds early Sunday after it was published late Saturday. I read too hastily.

Still doesn't negate the fact that another innocent person was almost killed by the police looking for this guy.

This is all happening a bit too close for comfort for me. As in the initial two murders were two blocks from where I work. It is disconcerting seeing swat team vehicles and search helicopters in a city where cops usually just hassle jaywalkers and deal with shoplifting.

The Torrance shootings by officers is not far from where I am. I'm more bothered by officers shooting at will at this point!

Wow.

Please stay safe Erica and TG!

This is wrong in so many ways. Kenny, I agree with you -- I will not read anything this man wrote. Whatever he believes was done wrong to him does NOT justify killing. He may or may not have had valid complaints about corruption or racism in the LAPD. It is a pity that he has approached it this way. If it turns out that he had cause to be upset with his treatment, his name will still be tarnished. He will be remembered as a murderer.

The police.... yikes.
I understand that they are extremely nervous as they (and their families) are being specifically targeted by a man who is trained. It must be horrifying. BUT shooting at innocent people without warning?!?!!!
That is just not okay. At the very least, they should announce that they are the police and the person (or people) need to move slowly into view with nothing in their hands. At least give the people a chance to avoid "misidentification". If the person moved suddenly or had something in hand after being warned, then shoot them if they feel their safety is at risk.

I just read his "manifesto," as I was curious.
It was a rambling blamefest written by a mentally ill, extremely angry man that perhaps shouldn't have passed the psychological testing I assume one undergoes when joining the LAPD.
That being said, I think his heart was in the right place when he was pursuing "justice" for the person in custody whom another officer allegedly kicked in the face. However, a mentally stable person would have done their due diligence, and when the desired outcome didn't happen, either resigned or moved on. I agree that the LAPD has corruption, but his reaction is completely out of whack and scary.
I sincerely hope they catch him before he hurts someone else and before LAPD hurts someone else as well!

LA times is reporting a gun battle between Dorner and cops in big bear....

OMG this is just like watching a movie watching it all unfold on live TV. He is going to die tonight.

The mountains are completely shut down. He is hold up in a house. Two officers injured. We have a lot of kids from the muntains at my sons school and none will be able to go home until this is over. Hwy 38 is pretty darn close. We have sirens blaring all around us and lots of helicopters....

Another officer dead. :nono: This makes me so angry.

On CNN. Reported by LA Times. Awaiting a hospital news conference now, it is being said.

They just opened Hwy 18. So people can get up and down. Good news for all our mountain families.

They are saying there was a big gunfight at the cabin, and that is why they are opening the roads.

The house is on fire.....the officer is comfirmed dead........

SWAT team now IN the cabin. This is all coming to an end now.

The house is in full burn, and a gun battle is going on. He is surrounded.

Fire looks like it is spreading. I hope the SWAT team is not caught up in there.

I hope that cabin served as a vacation home for the owners (likely since there was no internet or cable) & not a primary home with valuable and sentimental belongings.

It is a resort cabin. The lady who owns them owns 7 and they were all empty. SWAT is going to use a vehicle to drive into the house. They say the gun fire could have been munitions exploding. He may be dead. They are not taking any chances though.

Ok good. You have the local news. Are they saying he is dead yet? I heard cops may have lowered their weapons.
So much speculation right now.

Over the last several days I felt badly for anyone who even remotely resembled the suspect.
Apparently this guy got sick of being stared at.

That poor man, to have to go to such lengths to feel safe. I don't think he looks like Dorner, but who can blame him for being cautious? Considering the LAPD mistook two women for the suspect the other day.

It does look like it's over, reports are the police have removed a body from the cabin.

On my way to pick up my son from track practice, I saw a truck that had "i am not Chris Dorner, Leave me alone!" Written on the back window.

My daughter text me tonight an said she knew the officer that was killed today. He was a friend of her ex-husband. Small small world.

Weird.

The cabin Dorner is in catches fire.
Hmmm.

Then I heard a reporter in a news chopper, circling VERY high, say the police said that Dorner wanted news helicopters far away from the house. (But police copters were low and close.)
Hmm.

Then the police announce that Dorner was dead and in the house.
Hmmm.

Then the police announce they have no body to identify yet since the house is still too hot to enter.
Hmmm.

I don't trust the LAPD.
I suspect they just wanted him DEAD with no reporters witnesing that the cops gave Dorner no opportunity to surrender or get a trial where he could testify about the LAPD.
I smell a cover up.

Even a suspected murder is entitled to a fair trial.
That's our justice system.
But I think we just witnessed on big dose of vigilante justice. :nono:
I just hope I'm wrong and my suspicions are unfounded.

Kenny, I think you are right. This article states the cops planned to burn him all along. Which is why they wanted news cameras far away from the scene. The audio has them saying "Burn him down like we planned" or something. They placed 7 burners to burn down the house and supposedly threw gasoline in the cabin, too. I wondered how the fire caught on and spread so quickly. Now, I know.

Lots of that going around, Kenny, especially since audio of police radio appeared online with an officer saying, "Burn that m...f...er." Here's where we get too PC if you ask me. 1. He killed how many people again? Including a cop who did great stuff for the poor & whose wife just had a baby, and a young couple who'd never met him, 2. He was given a jillion opportunities to give himself up & rather notably refused, murdering a few folks in the process, 3. He made it clear on FB he would not be taken alive & would continue killing up to 40 people he was mad at, 4. Who was supposed to die next, going to get him? He could have surrendered any time -- he DIDN'T WANT TO; instead tried to shoot as many police as possible over the 2 day firefight.

He engineered what he spent a week seeking: death by cop, whether or not he shot himself before burning up. Can't sympathize with tears & alarums for this nobody.
