Thats a big step for the South African judicial system. I wonder, if this trend in South Africa continues will the impact reach the market in the form of an increase in Diamond Prices?
The land they won back is not rich in diamonds anymore. What they're really after is back royalties.
There are other groups of Bushmen in southern Africa (not just RSA) who have claims on more significant deposits. Two of the richest diamond mines in the world (Orapa and Jwaneng in Botswana) are located on or near historical Bushman lands.
It's too soon to say what effect this might have on retail prices. At the moment, though, probably none.
