I now have another question. My girlfriend won two tickets on South African airways to Cape Town. (I never win anything, but I suppose I'm lackey by association.) Is it worth looking at diamonds there, or is it best to buy while at home? On one hand, I wonder if I might be able to find a good deal because of the dollar's strength and the proximity to the diamond mines. On the other, I really worry about being scammed and not knowing it until I get back to the States.
