Hi Guys,

I am actually from the UK, but am going to get my ring from Whiteflash because they''re so much cheaper and better than what you can get from the UK!

Just wanted to run my target spec by you to see if you think this sounds sensible:

Carat: as close to 0.85 as I can get it
Colour: F-H
Clarity: SI1
Cut: A cut above

Top budget is about $4000.

Does this sound sensible?

It will be round brilliant in a solitaire setting.

Sounds very sensible to me Michel!

You''ve picked very nice and reasonable specifications.

I suppose what I am really saying - do you think I can lower colour/clarity to get it closer to 1 carat?

The predicament I have is that I will not really be able to see and inspect the stone in person; therefore if I drop down to SI2, I will not myself be able to tell if the inclusions are visible to the naked eye. Will whiteflash advise on such matters?

Also, my colour spec is based on the fact that i compared a H to an E and I could personally tell the difference with the naked eye; I was convinced, but was I deluded? Is it possible to do that?

if it is not, I will happily also drop down to H!

Advice much appreciated guys.

Cheers

Ok. If you want to get close to or a 1 ct., yes, you need to adsjust things. WF will absolutely tell you if a stone is or is not facing up eyeclean. Be very specific on what that means to YOU. If you don't want to see anything, from any angle, at any distance, tell them that. If you only care about face up, tell them. They are very picky when it comes to eyeballing stones, so you can trust their call.

Now, as for color, did you compare these side by side? or look at one, put it down, then look at the other? Many would see a difference side by side, but many would not see anything if just handed an H.

Also, is the intended wearer color sensitive, or not?

Most people are fine with H, and some even lower, but I won't say you/she would positively be fine. I don't want you coming back to yell at me.
