First, I liked Cornell, but I found Ithaca downright DREADFUL. Or course, it''s not as bad as Hanover (where Dartmouth is for those that do not know).

Second, I thought it was HILARIOUS! Especially, the parts about accessorizing and wearing makeup. Honestly, it sounded like something I would tell my SIL - ''I expect EVERYONE to be wearing accessories. This an important part of every outfit and can make or break an ensemble.'' Of course, coming out of my mouth it would sound more like, ''Like, what are you doing, at least have the decency to put on some pearls!'' I know that I''m crazy, but I love a girl in pearls, they''re so classy. Unless they''re on a trashy girl though . . . Moving on!

I think this is the best advice ever: ''You need to have color in your life. Otherwise, you will look like a ghost. Yes you will.'' You have to admit that shiz is funny.

Lastly, I know we''re in 2010 and everything should be about empowering women and everything, but who wants to be known as the ugly sorority? Be honest!

I beg your pardon! I grew up in Hanover and happen to think it''s a lovely town. It was a fantastic place to be a kid and every Dartie I''ve ever talked to has enjoyed the town, the area and all it had to offer. I''d move back there in a heart beat. Not nice Penn, not nice at all...

I''d also like to say that Ithaca is a fantastic town. I would absolutely love to live there if I could! It manages to be rural while still having a lot of really smart socially conscious people. And the most beautiful scenery everywhere! Ithaca is gorges

Word.

Wow. So glad my college got rid of the Greek system when it went co-ed in the late 60''s. We still had cliques and groups with their own silly rules and habits, but nobody was telling anybody how to dress. Which is lucky for me, since I have no fashion sense whatsoever. Tempest in a teapot, I think.

Ditto. I day dream about finding a way to move back there. I think a lot of city kids who go to Cornell don''t get as involved in Ithaca as they can and feel that since it isn''t NYC or another big city, it can''t be a great place, but I just loved it. Its beautiful, welcoming, affordable, and has both culture and nature! And jobs.

I''m more offended by the "easy" expectations from the friend in the first para. to "get drunk and do stupid stuff with frat guys" than the 6 page document on what to wear.

That''s why Dartmouth tends to be one of the more self selective Ivies. The kids that attend really like it and the city. I found it to be rather dark and dreary. That''s just me. Don''t take it personal, I''m just being honest about how I found it. And, at the time, I was a kid from the South visiting a school in the North, in the dead of winter. Alabama and New Hampshire (and upstate NY) are very different.
