soon to be Hurricane Nate

As my mom who lives in the Panhandle said, Irma came through and "missed a spot" so Nate is finishing the job.

New Orleans has a city wide curfew starting tomorrow evening at 7 pm.

The panhandle is going to be on the "dirty side" of the storm. Good luck to her.

We used to say that about Rita... what did RIta say to Katrina? Hold my purse, bitch, and let me finish this job.

Category 1 one now and strengthening overnight...

Praying for everyone in the path.

As an aside, my 12 year old son, Nate, is amused that he has a hurricane "named after him", though he understands that it's not really funny and is hoping that no damage is done...

@whitewave thats in your hood right? HOpefully it won't be too bad, but NOLA floods at the drop of a hat.

Oh no, not another one - stay safe everyone!!!!

Yes. Thank goodness my flood insurance kicked in last month. If I flood, the whole city will be underwater. (We didn't flood during Katrina)

Still, comforting to know I have coverage now.

@yennyfire I get it =) every time the list comes out and I don't see my name, I'm like awwwwww

Stay safe Whitewave!!! Are you stocked up on everything your family needs for a week?

IMG_2281.JPG Thanks!

DH is going to the grocery, so I am making the roux for the gumbo

Getting darker!

Stay safe!

DH just left NOLA with the groceries to come home. Could he have cut it any closer?

When I first got insurance on the house down here I almost had a coronary. Was over double what we had in the NE. but it makes some sort of sense considering. I'm not in a flood zone but one can't be too careful, so I did look. It adds an additional 400 a month. not bad really when you're already being bent over a barrel.... The end of hurricane season can't come soon enough!

Weather channel said it would move though pretty quick so you guys thankfully won't suffer too much, and it should be only a 1-2 which all things considered, is good news.

Glad you're ok @whitewave! If nothing else, it gave you an excuse to make gumbo (as if you needed an excuse!!)...

Glad are okay Whitewave. Now you can enjoy that gumbo!

Honestly if you're anywhere in "hurricane land", flood insurance is a good idea. You don't need to be in a "flood zone". For insurance companies, if the hurricane creates a leak in your roof and there's water damage, that's a "flood". Rain blowing sideways that comes in through your thresholds and windows - that's a "flood". If you didn't have flood insurance, those types of things wouldn't be covered.

Chicken and sausage gumbo, fried soft shell crab, fried shrimp and French bread.

You can't diet during a hurricane, but only for the day it hits.=)

A roux! I just learned to make a roux a few months ago! Sorry; I should've first wished you well and no harm during this latest hurricane, Whitewave. But i scrolled through quickly and your roux pics caught my eye. I'm glad you're keeping busy and I hope, as always, everyone is safe and nothing besides replaceables is damaged. Will be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts.

Thank you. We are safe and stuffed
