Hi all, I have a beautiful martini set diamond pendant. The stone is .75 ct and I really love it. I had the pendant made a little over 2 years ago by a local jeweler and I think he did a fantastic job. The old thread is here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-beautiful-new-3-prong-martini-pendant.66150/

The issue is that as many of you know, the martini pendant that''s fixed on the chain tends to ride up the side of your neck and get off-center quite often. I also think it''s a little "dressier" type of look. So I''ve decided to talk to another local jeweler I''ve found about resetting my stone into a thin bezel sliding pendant. I think I''ll get more wear out of it and hopefully it will stay more centered on my neck. I''m meeting with the jeweler in about 30 minutes to show her some photos I''ve collected of what I want the bezel to look like. I want a thin bezel, an open back, as shallow a setting as possible - in other words, something that doesn''t sit too high off my neck and flip over, on a 16 inch white gold chain. I hope I can communicate this to her and that she can make me what I want. It''s hard when you have the exact finished product in your head! I''ll keep you posted. In the meantime, if you have photos to share of what I''m looking for, please send them my way!!

Meant to add - the stone is G in color, SI1, .75 ct.

Yay, katiedid! Very exciting.

I vote the Tiffany Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard style for your bezel set necklace.
I have one and it never ever moves, never ever flips. The back is open, as you described that you wanted... so it's very easy to clean. It's light and comfortable, can be dressy or casual. (I love your martini set necklace, by the way!) With that weight diamond, I don't think it would migrate to the side of your neck, especially with a bezel. I wonder if you could make the bezel platinum to add weight and let the chain be white gold? That helps it stay put and never flip. Is there a specific reason why you would want a sliding pendant? This one never moves, either.

It's going to look HUGE with a bezel and very sparkly, too! I'm excited for you!
Now you're going to have to get matching earrings! LOL

OMG...that martini pendant you have is amazing, too.

thanks Bliss! I love the Tiffany bezel. Nice and open and easy to clean. But I do want something that will slide on a chain instead of being fixed. I took the pendant to the jeweler and she''s going to order a Stuller setting that is nice and shallow, relatively thin bezel (not super thin but I''m ok with that). She gave me a quote of $275 for everything including a new chain and all the labor. And she''s giving me credit for my current necklace, so it''ll be about $225 total. Not bad right?

Katie, I think that''s a darned good price for what you''re doing. I''d certainly go for it. I like that my solitaire pendant slides on a chain too. It moves when I move, instead of looking hung up and uneven. I''d be very self conscious about fiddling with it all day long to make sure it was centered on my neck. You''ll have to take some of your great photos for us when you get it back.

gemgirl - I''m so glad to hear you think it''s a good deal. I thought it would be around $200 so it''s a little higher than I''d hoped but still reasonable I think. And if I get more wear out of it, it''ll be well worth it. It''s not a necklace I wear every day - I have lots of cool silver (ie cheap) necklaces I like to wear but I think I''ll wear the diamond pendant more if it''s bezeled and slides on the chain. I''m just so nervous about the bezel being what I want it to be. I hope she can make it thin but not too thin.

Thanks and hopefully I''ll have it back next Tuesday with pictures to follow! yay!

sounds beautiful Katie! I love the bezel slider look

hey Katie!
If I remember right I live in your same metro area and I KNOW we have the same taste in jewelry - you have an amazing collection!
If you don''t mind me asking, what jeweler are you using? I have been looking for someone good locally for repairs and things. I''ve used the place by Whole Foods in Chapel Hill (Grimballs??) and I really liked them but found them pricey, plus my favorite sales associate and favorite benchman are no longer there!
Thanks for your recommendation/review!

I have this necklace in platinum and it flips all over the place. Drives me nuts. I wear my basket set pendant instead.

Wow! Really, MC? I may have gotten an anomaly.

I've worn mine for years and it has never flipped, not even once. Do you think it's the weight of it? My WF Diamonds by the Yard flips ALL the time and I've learned to love it - the diamonds in that are little 15 pointers. Both are plat. But my Tiff diamond is bigger and heavier. So it never flips or migrates. katedid's diamond is also going to be heavier so it should never flip either if it's weighted properly.

If the diamond is around .75+ in a heavier metal like plat I don't think it is ever going to flip. I just got curious and tried to MAKE my diamond flip and it won't even with all my sideways jostling and jumping around. If someone saw me right now, they'd think I was nutso.

Hi Katiedid! I''m having a slider bezel pendent made too! I found this picture from KticeRN. It''s a slider and doesn''t look like it sits too high. I''m going to be sending this pic along to my jeweler so I can communicate what I want as well. I hope it is what you are looking for.

PortlandKelly - I love that necklace and showed that same photo to my jeweler! Thank you!

TDM - yes we are in the same area and the jeweler I''m trying out is Vicki Robin. I''ll let you know how she is to work with and maybe you''ll give her a try!

MC - that stinks that your pendant flips. At least you have another one to wear. Lucky you.

Bliss, I''m laughing (with Gecko) thinking about you trying to flip your pendant! Too funny!

kcoursolle, your pendant photos were also some I took to the jeweler yesterday. I LOVE your pendant. I''d have the milgrain done on mine if I was having someone do it whom I''d worked with before and trusted to do that kind of detail work. I can always add that later I guess. Your pendant is probably my fave of all time on PS! Thanks and I''m glad you''re still loving the design!

This is the setting she''s ordering - it''s Stuller and is a "back set bezel". She knows how worried I am about it being too chunky so when she gets it, I''m going to look at it and then she''ll set it for me.

here''s the side view which I like

That looks so good, katedid!

It looks like it might be a very delicate bezel, actually. Gorgeous! That puppy isn''t going to migrate, no way!

thanks Bliss! Do others agree? If so, I should just tell her to go ahead and set it and stop worrying about it!

Yah! I really love it! I made it smaller proportionally to fit a .75 carat stone.

Looks really nice!

very cool! thanks!

Does anyone else agree that this setting looks "dainty/thin" enough? Not too chunky?
