Someone please buy this old cut diamond...

This is probably one of the most spectacular old cut pears I have seen. Over 3ct, chubby, no bowtie or any other bad things! Nice big culet. I adore this diamond and want it for myself.

I don't usually post auctions, but this seller starts his auctions so high its rare for them to sell anyway. There is no lab report and the seller is typically very generous with their color grades. I would anticipate this stone is not H-I color but perhaps more like L-M. Either way a nice price for one of the most rare old cuts of all.

I'm not suprised it didn't sell the first time. I'm guessing that uneducated consumers see the "hole" (aka cutlet) and think something's wrong with the stone. I'd be happy to take it off of their hands!!

I have to agree. That is a really, really pretty old cut pear shape. I probably would want this to be a certified stone because the seller is claiming it's a VVS1 and an H-I color. Old cut stones tend to be lower than an H-I color, which I actually don't mind because I like the 'warmth' of old cut stones. But if you're going to pay the price for a VVS1 (another thing I'd want to know for sure) and an H-I color, I'd want the documentation to prove it (and by G.I.A.).

To me that doesn't look like it's priced as a VVSI H-I color at all! I think it would be a pretty good deal at K-M and VS2 especially with how unique it is and with such a gorgeous cut.

I love that the seller wrote it was graded by a GIA gemologist. LOL. I wonder how many people fall for that thinking it has a GIA cert.
Anyway, I agree, this seller has some nice things but they are priced pretty high to start.

It is not priced at the VVS1 or HI range. On the estate market on ebay I find diamond are usually priced by carat weight and beauty with clarity being dichotomous -- eye clean or not -- and color being a total wild card.

When you buy estate pieces for below market retail you need to adjust how you evaluate the price and value of things.

This listing really means eye clean diamond in the M-P color range. That is my interpretation.

Pears are my first love ever since I babysat for a woman who wore a huge pear engagement ring. I want someone to buy this and put me out of misery but at the same time I want this thread deleted so that my vivid daydreams involving buying this for myself can come true.
