Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

I saw that too, and I tried to look up the report number, but it said no results. I’m really curious about the treatment.

I read that you need to contact them directly for info. I wish they had an online lookup option.

The clover is here! The chip is negligible — where I thought it was at 2 o’clock is actually a white inclusion. I’m leaning to keep it, although I’m wondering if what’s throwing me is the emerald center. I need another project like I need a hole in the head but it would be stunning with a 6mm OEC. I’m not thrilled with the price ($1,200) but I think it’s fair. Thoughts?

I love it! I also think a colored stone cab would be lovely!

I think it's stunning! It is a statement piece for a bargain price. Would you be willing to wear it as is until you are ready to take on the project. It is quite pretty.

Keeper imo

Regarding chips in diamonds, do they have to be removed, or can some be hidden by a bezel? I'm curious in general, not just for this ring.

That’s a good question. I think they can be hidden by a bezel BUT it depends on size of chip? I’m sure the more experienced will have a more constructive answer.

I know nothing about opals—this one looks to be a real cabochon—not doublet/triplet? I quite like it and am tempted.

some can be hidden with a prong, some with a bezel. It depends on how large the chip is.

@ShinyPink to echo on what @lovedogs is saying -- some people do not buy chipped diamonds because of the risk of internal damage that can compromise the integrity of the stone. It's all relative. Stones with huge chunks taken out of them (imo) are not a good buy. Some people find wear and tear in the form of fleabites and other minor chips OK. It also depends on if we're talking about a 4ct honker, where there's room for a recut. Most smaller diamonds won't have enough material to recut (not to mention finding someone with the skill to do a recut is not an easy feat).

WHY so many tiny rings?! :cry2:

And thanks for the explanations about chipped diamonds!

A few pretties that are outside my budget, so I'm sharing them so you can all buy them and put me out of my misery.
