Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

IMG_8255.png

Did one of you all buy this?? It sold in 15 min. I need the crying emoji to work.

I’m so sad I missed this … stupid job got in the way . I’m on the lookout for a sapphire 11x7mm or a little bigger, in case anyone sees something amazing.

Lol I was thinking the exact same thing. Yesterday I was chilling at work and today I’m busy! I’m going to be heartbroken about this one for a bit.

I dunno if this will suit ($ or size) but the sapphire looks pretty, unheated, and may be around your desired specs

@LightBright do we like it? I think it looks cute stacked like that.
It was not a fortune because the auction had those huge heavy 1980s Italian 18k gold chains and everyone wants those now.

I like it! Looks great in a stack too!

one of the insta jewelers was having a sale at 7pm pacific 10pm eastern and I can't remember who! anyone? trying to find it. Thanks.

This is a nice bracelet. If you are looking for Great Gatsby style bling. I’ve not seen this style backing but diamonds are antique and miligrain looks antique. Platinum.

A more affordable one. Platinum sapphires diamonds, geometric simple design.

Oh my it's lovely

Maybe it is just me but these do not look like clear diamonds?

They look pink. They say it’s natural (!!) vs2. Almost five grams 18k yellow gold. If I were looking for a pink diamond ring (in my budget) it’s sweet and this price seems good.

So TRR has this OMC band listed today, and y'all, I think it's lab diamonds that they haven't disclosed as lab. :roll2:

This makes me wonder how much RealReal inspectors actually know. It does look like that ring was made by the vendor you linked. Those cuts also don’t look very authentic, the diamonds all match, and setting looks modern. It all points to lab diamond material newly cut.

And the price is triple on RR for a preowned ring w a very questionable appraisal. Original vendor 30% of cost!

It appears to me that RR is being used by other vendors to sell things. For example, maybe traded in (possibly repaired) watches. And many authentic settings with worse quality stones (lab diamonds or sapphires, or lesser stones) set into preowned higher quality settings.

I’ve seen some good things too. But most antiques have center stones removed for worse quality, though some remain. I used to see large antique diamonds and large antique sapphires frequently.

But RR now looks picked over and launched to unsuspecting customers after taking off the good stuff. A branded 18k bracelet I bought had the designer’s clasp taken off and replaced with a generic clasp and the RR inspector didn’t call out the Frankenbracelet.

Also, yellow gold items with good prices are rare on RR. Still worth keeping an eye on!

I thought they looked pink as well.

The top of the ring is made from rose gold. Do you think this alone could give the pinkish shade?

I don’t think that tint could all be from rose gold. Might be color corrected photo or more likely, lab. But 18k yellow gold, with the rose gold top, heavy setting with higher complexity thoughtful design and vintage, makes me at least somewhat hopeful they are natural! The cuts are also varied, color and cut not all matched, perhaps hand selected from a bunch. But maybe labs are variable too. We can dream.

This is terrifying

CORRECTION - I should NOT have said “most antiques” or vintage or preowned on RR have large stones removed for worse quality. I should have said my observation over time is that is done -some of the time-. A lot in the cases of traded in ring or earring settings that seem to be relaunched on RR with lab diamonds or other gems. Same as on eBay. Some vendors on eBay are selling scrapped antique settings with removed center stones, reset with inferior stones. On RR there used to be good quality vintage rings with higher quality large colored stones. It seems like now those don’t hit the retail marketplace or RR too often.

I sent an email to TRR's customer service, authentication, and CEO, questioning their ability to discern natural v lab diamonds, and how it can't be trusted. We'll see what they say, if anything.

The secondhand market on the whole is not full of things the way it was several years ago. I don't know how much of it is that people just aren't selling as much, and how much of it is that a ton of things are going to instagram resellers. Handbags, shoes, clothes, etc, it's all a lot harder to find on the big resale sites.

Does anyone know how often TRR does their spend x, get y store credit sales? And when to expect the next one?

Love your avatar!!

If someone is looking for an OMB, here’s a 1.21 ct J I1 per GIA. It is deep but it looks like it might be going for a good price at auction.

Don’t know if the grade setting inclusion, a feather on the bezel (per GIA) could be a problem. But maybe putting into a bezel setting would resolve??

Once a month, usually around holiday weekends. Not always a month apart. Sometimes more than a month apart. Fashionphile's is usually within a weekend of TRR's, sometimes on the same weekend but not always.

Here’s some more information on the diamond.
