So it all started with my mom's upgrade last month. She went from a 1 ct. I I1 from Kays to a BGD 1.65 K VS2. Her new ring is spectacular, but since she has that, she doesn't really need a second diamond ring (I beg to differ - you can never have too many diamond rings! But she felt differently

). But first, here is the cast of characters (from top down):

One of two diamond channel set bands my mom wore soldered to her old ering
Mom's old ering
Mom's new ering

And the green stone is my Barry Bridgestock supernova green tourmaline, 2.07 ct., 8.5 x 7.2 mm

For reference, my finger size is a 3.25-3.5 (depending on the hand)

Anyway, my mom didn''t want two diamond rings and she''s always wanted a diamond solitaire pendant. So I took her diamond ring to my jeweler, Windy City Diamonds in Chicago, and ta-da! It became a pendant.

(You can see the quality isn''t the greatest - two huge inclusions - but it''s a great pendant stone I think!)

Neckshot! I get to keep and wear it until my graduation when my mom comes to Chicago

Great new pendant and I love your gemstones.

Now you must be wondering what happened to that setting (and if you weren''t, I bet you''re wondering now

). So since I was so helpful in getting her new ring done, my mom gave me the old ring''s setting. I took it to my jeweler, got it sized down from a 6.5 to a 3.5, and had them replaced the head and put my green tourmaline in. I am a bit disappointed that they forgot my claw prongs but it doesn''t bother me that much so I left it alone. I think one day I''ll end up resetting this stone since I really like it, and I think a different setting might suit it more - but that won''t be for awhile.

The stone is very deep so it sits quite high.

Now in addition, my mom decided to wear only one of her channel set bands instead of both (and NOT soldered!). So she gave me the second band. It''s too big for me (a size 6.5) so I decided to just redo it completely. Using the diamonds and the gold from the band, my jeweler created a bezeled band for me! There is a sizing bar underneath (where we ran out of diamonds

) but it doesn''t show from the top or sides. I love it!

Wow, your green tourmaline ring is gorgeous.

I love stacking it with my 5-stone band for a super-blingy look

My look today - with my cuprian tourmaline from Barry and my 5-stone.

And finally, not a recycling project - I got a lovely key from my mom''s friend as a graduation and birthday present. I did a thread on it a while back - Link - but didn''t put up neckshots. So here they are.

And size comparison with my argentium silver JKT key (oh the smaller key is 14 kt. WG with diamonds and blue sapphires).

Oh, my goodness! I love it all.

The pendant is so pretty and substantial (is your mom sure she wants it back?), and I absolutely love how you turned the channel-set band into such a lovely bezel band. It looks perfect on you! What size are the stones in the band?

A gorgeous collection! Simply divine!

Awesome collection! I love EVERYTHING!

The pendant looks sparkly and huge! Both keys are amazing and what a lovely present that sapphire one made.
