littlelysser- just finishing up my first year! yeah, measly 1L but not for long! i think it''s great that you are pursuing something on the creative side. i would love to design clothes and jewelry and open a boutique sometime after law school.
I LOVE your work!! I too am an aspiring jewelry maker, however, I haven''t progressed to silver yet! I need to keep practicing with solder and plated wire to get the confidence! Rings like yours are exactly what I hope to move in to. Do you have a website?
Great pieces! If I saw those for sale somewhere, I''d take the ring and the pendant for sure!!! Great job, and how cool that you are fulfilling one of your dreams. I wish you much success!
Disco - Congrats on finishing your first year1 It is definitely the toughest...I loved law school. Just didn''t care for the practice too much!!!
Holly - Thank you! Each piece is totally different...although I have several requests to make holey rings for friends and family...but each one is inherently different because frankly, I don''t think I could make them the same if I wanted to!
Waterlilly - Thank you so much! I''m taking several classes and I''ve already taken some - they were very helpful in getting started! I have a blog, but I''m not sure if I can post a link here. I''m still at the starting phases, but hopefully I''ll have a website at some point!
MC- Much thanks!
Monarch - Thanks so much! I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to try and do this for real!
Your pieces are very unique and lovely! The ring is my favorite! It must be so fufilling to be able to follow your dream and do exactly what you love! Good for you and keep up the great work! I wish you luck!
I just found this thread, too - and I''m loving your pieces, especially the holy ring! You''re doing a super brave thing, and I think you''ll do fabulously!
Dani - thank you! and it definitely is fulfilling, but also totally scary!!
Gypsy - you can do it! leave the lawyer gig behind!
And really, my bar status is still active, so I suppose I could go back...but boy oh boy, do I hope I don''t have to...Thank you for you kind words...and actually, I''m not really a fan of silver either...but I don''t think I''m ready to move on to the pricier metals...actually I''m dying to make a holey ring in rose gold.
Linda - thank you!
Lauren - Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it!
Selkie - Thanks so much! I started taking classes in January at an arts center in my city. It is actually about 5 minutes from my house. They offer great classes. Last term I took a basic fabrication class (which is nearest to what I''d call silversmithing) and a lost wax casting class - which is lots of fun. This term I''m taking a wax casting class again, a different fabrication class and a wire jewelry class.
FUN!!! Congrats on some fine work ... can''t wait to see your next batch & hear tales from the artist''s bench! Is this inhibiting your IDOL-viewing??? If so
. You need your INSPIRATION lady ...
. And I, for one, would like a CASTRO CUFF.
