I'm a packrat.
Also a lifelong photographer.
Over the past 25 years, I bet I've taken pics of 25,000 diamonds.
Computers make "packratting" pictures pretty easy.
Anyway, while looking for something else, I came across a folder called "colors" and found these...
They're all natural
I'll see if I can identify any of them.
The Blue Asscher....I know I can't find that one, but I think it was Fancy Intense Blue???

A side effect of Lab diamonds? We just don't see guys with this kind of stones much anymore....used to be that we would literally have people knocking on our doors with these kinds of natural diamonds routinely. We can still find the stones- but the variety of dealers is a fraction what it was 10 years ago.

That green! :kiss2:

I believe this is the same stone in the sun... GIA graded Fancy Yellow-Green, Strong Blue Fluorescencer3487a.jpg

That green - and the yellow Asscher! So glad you saved these.

The green (or is it light blue) pear :kiss2:...and the pinks!

I think it's really sad how fast things have changed in the colored world. Does no one appreciate that the
Earth made these colors all by itself? I know its all price driven, and the majority of us can't afford a sizeable
colored stone without it being lab.:confused2:

We need @kenny to post a picture of his collection. He hasn't posted them in a while, and they
are really quite spectacular!

Absolutely delightful! I take comfort in the idea that colored diamonds still exist they just aren’t being found, sought or resold as frequently maybe?

Thanks for sharing all of those beautiful pictures!!

I, for one, appreciate natural colored diamonds. I haven't been tempted by lab grown colored diamonds. I might buy a nice green one just as a novelty, but I wouldn't feel the same about it as I do my natural diamonds. The lab greens I've seen so far haven't appealed to me - too olive.

I'm not speaking from inside knowledge of mining- as opposed to experientially.
Based on what I'm seeing, compared to what I used to see in the NY Diamond Market.
There's just a lot less demand for natural diamonds. This has to impact expensive mining operations.
Mines that yield exotic Fancy Colors might be an exception......but the volume of goods coming to market- fancy colored diamonds - is much less than pre-pandemic levels- based on what I am seeing.

You're so welcome! I'm glad for the opportunity to share them

I think a large part of this sentiment is due to the fact that the vast majority of Fancy Colored Lab Diamonds do a poor job of mimicking the natural stones.
IN the case of greens....fuhgeddaboudit......none of the lab diamonds looks like a Natural Green diamond.......
Most of the yellow ones are orange. PInks.......some of the lab ones are pretty nice....I mean, it's hard to say a 10ct Fancy Intense Pink Lab looks "Natural", given you've never seen a natural pink that size.....

Here's a cool chart I just found, while looking for something else:)color chart.jpg

For me the sentiment is due to lab diamonds not being natural - I prefer something that can't be produced by what is basically a factory (at least in my mind) that can produce one after another. While yes, the colors don't seem to be quite right on the vast majority of colored lab diamonds I've seen pictures of, that's not why my preference is for natural. If I found a green lab diamond that the color seemed right on, I still would never feel the same about it as I would my natural diamonds.

That chart is nice. The difference between fancy and fancy intense looks almost nonexistent on that chart, to me. And I know there is a difference.
