You can do the ring with a rose gold band and have a platinum top on it- gets the best of both!

hehe yep! Asking the lady to use whiteflash's ring size tool. I think we have it figured out, but just want to confirm.

Then, it'll be time to order :)

suspenders83, I would highly recommend to use the online chat function on their website (since today is sunday) and reserve that diamond. It's just a free courtesy hold for 24-48 hours, and will change the status to reserved. I lost a diamond at WF on a Sunday before. My thinking was I'll just call them on Monday, but of course it was reserved by someone else by then who ultimately bought it.

Thank you very much for the reminder. I just reserved the stone :)

You lose out about 6.5 points in size, you get a significantly cleaner stone (under a 10x loupe, both might be eye clean IRL) but you are up for another $1300.

To me it isn't a good deal as the extra $1300 can go towards a setting for the stone. Only time I would say yes is if you are really worried about the clarity of the stone (WF says the I SI1 is eye clean but you are having "mind clean" issues).

Also, I'm not sure you realize the lower, 0.8 HCA score doesn't mean it's superior to the one with the 1.1 HCA score. HCA is intended to be used as a filtering-rejection tool, to weed out likely duds -- not a selection tool. From Gary Holloway himself:
Use [HCA] to reject known poor performers and narrow down your selection. Please do not use it for final selection; it will not replace an analysis with an Ideal-scope and/or an independent appraisal.

Since you're looking at ACAs & WF offers a wealth of information about each one, you don't need to think about the HCA scores.

If you're still feeling restless, you could start scoping out the setting possibilities

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

When I created an account at Whiteflash, I received an email from one of their diamond specialists who will contact me tomorrow and actually pull the 2-3 stones in question and examine them for me.

I admit that my mind is playing some games on me, and I shouldn't feel that way. I visited a local jeweler and he showed me an SI1 diamond, GIA triple excellent, in which I could not see an inclusion, even with a loupe. (Obviously I'm not versed enough).

My mind is leaning towards staying with the 1.337 SI1 stone.

Thank you for pointing that out, and you're correct. I thought that it just may have been a better option, even cut wise.

Regarding setting possibilities, the lady likes this style:

https://www.whiteflash.com/engageme...fany-style-solitaire-engagement-ring-3583.htm

I showed her a few other possibilities, including ones with diamonds on the band, but she prefers a very simple ring that will showcase the diamond well.

Also, she will kill me when she finds out it's a ~1.3C stone. She agreed to an 0.7, but I kept hinting I'll get her a 1C.

Maybe I'll just tell a small white lie and say "ohh yeah, it's 1C... it's just cut that well. Other 1C stones that you see are just cut inferior. I consulted with the experts at Pricescope, hence why your stone looks that much bigger".

She'll buy that... right?

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to sincerely thank you for your help & advice with choosing the right stone.

I just put in the order for the 1.337C SI1 I Color stone, in a Rose Gold, 6 prong Tiffany style ring.

Sorry for all of the indecisiveness that I went through, and thanks for putting up with it :)

YAY for you :appl: It's a really pretty stone (I just watched the video again) -- no need to apologize for your attentive care in selecting it!

I sent in the payment application last night, and this afternoon around 2PM EST they confirmed that everything has been processed with a ship date of May 16th :)

The proposal probably won't happen for at least another 4 weeks, but since this was such a great stone for a great price (as many of you pointed out), I figured it's best I get it before it's gone :)

As soon as I get the ring, I will absolutely take pictures and share on here :)

Hi all,

The ring was shipped yesterday and arrived today. I have to say that I am very, very happy with it so far. I've been staring at it in crappy lighting, and it still looks beautiful to me. I've been trying to find an inclusion with my naked eye but cannot find anything.

Everyone - thank you again for your help. I really, really appreciate the time you took to help me with this purchase.

Once I propose, I'll post a few pictures of the ring on my lady's hand in the appropriate threads.

Here is a picture:

Hi all!

Although I purchased this ring on May 9th and it arrived a week later, I had to wait until July to propose. I did it this evening and she said yes!

I've attached a picture below. She loves it!

Thank you all again for your time and help in selecting the perfect ring for my fiance. It really means a lot.

Edit: she had no idea I was going to propose today, hence no nail polish... She's really happy right now so she let me post a picture anyway :)

Cheers!
