I would *love* to see pictures of sets that have a plain solitare engagement ring with a plain wedding band! Does anyone have this type of set anymore? lol
This is a nice thread! All of your rings are beautiful
I love how single stones really make a statement! Here I am trying to get as many big stones in my set as possible, and these rings are so much more me--traditional and classy. If only I didn''t love diamonds so much!!!
DiaDiva, your e-ring and w/band are stunning!! Please give the specs!
Thank you all for the gorgeous photos! It helped me make my decision to go with a 2.5mm solitare setting with a 2.5mm w/band. My center diamond is a 1.06 Princess cut that I love and really want that to be the focus. My current setting is a cathedral solitare and it seems to take away from the diamond quite a bit.
I also felt that I could have more "play" with a plain w/band and e-ring. DH is getting me a .50 carat princess channel ring from Blue Nile (in white gold since I''m switching over from platinum) to wear as a RHR or as a wedding band if I want. So I feel like I have more options on changing my rings around! And having kids, there are more days I wear JUST a w/band than both e-ring and w/band
I''ll post pictures as soon as I get my rings back from Blue Nile. I have to ship my diamond off to them tomorrow!
DiaDiva, whoa... that is a humongo pear and it looks beautiful on you! More info, please!
Feb2003, I really think you will be thrilled with that combination. Until last month, I wore a 2mm plat solitaire Tiffany-style e-ring with a 3.5mm plat band. I recently upgraded (for my 10th anniv) to a dainty diamond eternity set, which I wear on either side of my original wedding band. I love, love, love my new set-- but sometimes I wish I would have had a thin eternity band as my wedding band so that I could have gotten a matching band for the 10th anniv to wear on either side of the plain plat e-ring. I agree that it makes the diamond pop (more so, I think, than my current diamond band. It''s just under 2mm, so it''s quite dainty but when you look at the e-ring, you see the center stone with a lot of other sparkle rather than just a sparkly center stone.
When I upgraded, I decided to get the e-ring changed to match the anniversary band so I could wear them on either side of my plain wedding band. It''s a nice look-- even with the diamond on the front band and not the middle one.
I always like the look of my wedding band on its own, when I am at the gym or just to dress down a bit. You''ll be happy with your decision, I''m sure.
My ring size is 5.5 while my pear is 3.22 ct. It is a J colour, VVS1. I think the proportions are 1.5 to 1. I don''t remember the rest as I''m in the office now. My bands are 2.5mm each.
I''m hoping to change my pear to a better colour and am working with my jeweller on this. Hopefully this will be accomplished in the next few months. I never thought I was colour sensitive but after I started wearing my pear, I realised that I am! It looks yellowish in certain lighting on the tip but otherwise, it''s actually a beautiful stone.
I''m a terrible photographer. Those shots were actually taken by my co-worker. Let me work on my husband to take some more for me this weekend.
