I just picked a 0.91 ct diamond from WF and will have it set in the WF Four Corners pendant (pics below). The chain is affixed to the basket. I prefer this "floating" look rather than having a bail.

I am having a hard time choosing the chain length so WF can make the necklace. I experimented last night by threading a chain through the lower part of a bail set solitaire pendant to try to approximate how a floating pendant would look. I like the way it looked at 17" or 17.5" (I am 5''11"), but it was tilting up or flipping a lot. Of course, that may have been happening because of the bail that was sticking out at the bottom so that it couldn''t lie flat.

With floating pendants, do they flip less if they sit up high in the hollow of the throat above the collar bone/clavicle tips, or a bit longer below those protruding bones?

Here''s the setting:

Kay,

I have the same setting and the chain is at 16" on me (at 5' 4") and it's too short. My diamond ends up in the hollow of my throat and tilts down because it's top heavy. If I had ordered a longer chain, this wouldn't be an issue. . .

The diamond you picked out is larger than mine, so the top heavy issue may not occur, but in your shoes, I'd order the longer 17.5" and see what you think of it, and if it's too long, you can have a local jeweler shorten it.

Thanks, MC. Are you happy with the setting? Are the prongs nice and petite? (I''m not expecting Leonesque claws, but you know how we PSers are about prongs.)

Hi I have the exact same setting from White flash. Mine is slightly over 0.7ct, and I chose 15.5inch chain and I''m 5''3. I dont have any problems at all with the diamond flipping, however it''s always off center! It doesn''t bother me too much, but still kind of annoying because I subconsciously touch the diamond to make sure it''s center all the time
