Hey guys/gals

Firstly, thank you for the support in selecting a diamond! I've now got a 2.35 RB coming in a few days and I need to get looking for a setting :D She's size Q ring (8 1/4)

My lady friend likes solitaires that look elegant, but at the same time, she wants/loves side diamonds.. And not in a separate diamond design but pave or small diamonds running down the shank.

I've been looking around and found a few that I like, including a Coast one, and one I saw at a local jeweler.

I've attached pix below of the coast one and the one I liked at the jeweler.

The question I have is has anyone seen a dupe/clone of the one attached with a love heart (looks like an M) running in the middle with stones on the side pave-style?).. I like that one coz her name starts with M so it fits nicely. I just want to see what I can find similar to those styles..

Would be nice to stick to something with an M or a heart in the middle like the style below, but it's not a deal-breaker. I generally like ones that taper in (like my example from the jeweler below) and some cathedral's coz they have space usually a "v" under the diamond :)

The one i liked at the jeweler; quoted $2170 ($1575 USD) for white gold.

Coast one I like too:

I would look for a setting that is not as high. A 2.35 carat stone is significant in width and depth in and of itself. When set really high, it makes it rather impractical for wear. She won't want to wear it if she is afraid of beating and banging it on everything due to its height.

Vatche rings are sold by many jewelers - how about something like this? http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/diamond-settings/felicity-pave-diamond-engagement-ring-by-vatche-1649.htm

Coast and Whiteflash are better not liking the first one cannot stand tall rings very impractical on the finger but each to his own

Very true. I have a 2.5 that I set in a peghead, very traditional high setting and I knocked that sucker all over the place. MGR's Vatche suggestion is an excellent one, and it's very beautiful too. Good luck!

The first one is too high. Coast is a good brand and I think that might be worth pursing if it doesn't set the diamond too high. I'd recommend platinum, too.

Hi guys, Thanks for the feedback. I can't buy the Vatche one even though I like it.. It shows the center stone has to be under 1.75 carat. Per Whiteflash: Can be set with: Round Carat Range: 0.50-1.75 :(

Could you have Whiteflash suggest a similar Vatche style that will accommodate your stone? Vatche really are so lovely, as is Whiteflash!

My only concern about this one is that it's four prongs - I'd prefer a six-prong for a diamond of this size.

http://www.whiteflash.com/engagemen...tani-setting-diamond-engagement-ring-2047.htm

(I think Whiteflash will set outside diamonds only if you can provide a GIA or AGS certificate.)

If you have time, consider ring custom made by Mark Morrell. His rings have the most beautiful lines - and he offers several styles with sidestones that still honor the solitaire aesthetic: http://www.mwmjewelry.com/, http://markmorrell.weebly.com/mwm-custom-projects.html. Warning - his website is a pain to navigate.

I'd also recommend a 6 prong setting. 2.35ct is a nice size you you can get a fairly elaborate basket design. If your budget allows then you could look at custom settings instead.

Whiteflash may have that constraint but Wink at HighPerformance Diamonds does not.
I have that #1514 mounting set with a 2.21 Crafted by Infinity Diamond.
Vatche will custom make the mounting to fit your diamond.
There is also a matching band available.

See below:

Here is a profile shot, it does sit lower than most which is good for me since I wear it as a RHR.
The diamond is set just high enough to see the culet.

Here is a shot of the pave that Wink took:

Just to clarify Whiteflash policy; we list items on our website as they can be provided in a standard way at the listed price and turnaround times. Many, if not most, designs can be modified to accomodate different sizes and shapes. This may involve additional costs and delivery times on the designer side. We can easily inquire with the designer to get pricing and turnaround times on request, and we do this for customers on a regular basis.
