Hi everyone. I am trying to achieve the tiffany solitaire knife edge band e-ring with the shared prong wedding band look like the picture attached. That is a picture of a 2.1 ct diamond e-ring, but mine is a 1.52 ct e-ring (about 8mm across the top). I think the tiffany shared prong band shown are .08 ct diamonds each (8pt), but since my e-ring has a smaller ct than that pic, what size diamonds would I need to get to achieve the same look. My finger size is 4.25. Thank you for any help you can give.

Mathematically, it comes out to 5.78 (8 is 3.8% of 210...or 2.1 carats; 3.8% of 152 is 5.78)...so 5 or 6 pointers should do it!

Personally, I would go with 5 pointers. It will make your stone look bigger...and just look better, but that's just MY opinon. :wink2:

I agree. I think 5 points would be perfect and would let your solitaire be the center of attention.

ok thanks for the advice. initially i thought i needed an 8 or 7 from looking at people pictures they seemed to be the bling i liked, but then i also saw some 5 pointers that looked really good too and looks almost the same to me. its hard to tell from pictures since we all have different sized fingers and e-rings. is there a big difference in look from a 5pt to a 7pt?

Initially i wanted a full eternity band, but i want to wear it everyday and i am a nurse so we are constantly putting alcohal on our hands, and i think it would make the bottom half look dirty all the time then it would spin so the top would get dirty too, and i was also worried about banging it and diamonds getting loose on the bottom, and theres the sizing issue.

so now im debating between a half eternity shared prong band which is 5 pts each:

or a 3/4 eternity band that is 6pts each:

I was going to go to tiffanys this weekend to try on their bands to get an idea of what it would look like but im worried ill fall in love with their band. thanks again.

That is a beautiful set! I really like the 3/4 eternity band. As a fellow nurse, I have a suggestion that I am only making to save your rings. I suggest getting a plain band for work, maybe a knife edge, and saving your diamonds for when you are not at work. I work with the little babies and we are not even allowed have wear diamonds or stones in our rings for infection purposes. I have also been told that all the handwashing and alcohol sanitizer we use can ruin rings. I leave my rings at home or wear them around my neck and I just have a plain band that I wear to work.

I really like the 3/4 eternity band that you posted, but perhaps made with 5 pointers. May I also suggest a 1.5 mm spacer band to wear between the two to protect both. I have 1.5 mm spacer and really love it. I know, with my old set anyway, that both rings were protected.

thx for the advice mrsacornblue... ya prob later i will end up getting a little plainer band for work. but u know when they are new u just want to show them off for awhile. :wink2: my floor isnt too strict on rings (i work on a joint replacement floor). my rings platinum too and i plan on getting a plat wedding band as well, so i dont think the sanitizer has the bad effects on plat like it prob would on white gold. but i do appreciate the comment and will prob take your advice later down the road.

thx unicorn64, i got my e-band from e.e. robbins and they said they could customize my tiffany style knife edge e-band to fit my wedding band. I told them i wanted the head raised enough so they could sit flush with the other ring, and hopefully lessen the "scratching" of each other. so they told me to find my wedding band i wanted first and then they will customize my e-ring. i think if the e-rings head sits too low on your ring, thats what causes the 2 to each up at each other. so hopefully i wont have the problem, but well c. i cant stop looking at diamonds lately. its so exciting.
