Ok so here is a short story. I sold my grandmother's ring through a jewellery specific classifieds site. Met up with the guy and he paid cash. Everything went well. Then about a week later he called me up and said he wanted to return the ring because he was short on cash. I told him I could, but would have to take 30% off , or nothing at all, and he was ok with that. Anyhow he returned the ring, and I noticed instantly that the diamond was different! A bit bigger but just cleaner looking than what I had given him. Anyhow I took it downtown to a gem lab, and had it appraised, and not only is it a real diamond, but it was appraised higher in value than what I had sold the guy in the first place. The lab even checked for synthetic diamond treatments. I'm stumped! I even gave the guy a call, and left 2 messages so far but there's no reply on his end. I don't know if I should goto the police or just be happy? LOL this is the weirdest experience i've ever had LOL

More likely explanation:
They cleaned the diamond and returned the ring. Slight differences between 2 different appraisers in grading is not uncommon.

I'm sorry but this story sounds FAKE!

Great story.

Sounds like the diamond fairy struck again!

Assuming you are not a troll (I'm not so sure), what lab report did you sell it with?
Secondly appraisals of value are not very useful for identification, you are more looking for lining up inclusions and the 4Cs being identical to really tell.

Totally bizarre!

Late for April fools joke

Maybe he was trying to trade a stolen stone for A legit stone? That's all I can think of. Maybe he is using you as an unwitting fence!
