Solasfera set and returned from GoG (Pics Inside)

I created a thread a little over a month ago about a Solasfera I bought from GoG. Well, a few weeks after I sent it to them to be set it has returned.

I decided to go with the Gabriel & Co X Prong setting and I definitely made the right choice. Thanks to everyone who convinced me to spend a little bit extra on a nicer setting, it was probably the best decision I made in this whole process.

I had no idea how much bigger and better the diamond was going to look in this setting than it did in the temporary setting it came in loose. The thing looks closer to a 1.25 than a 1 carat in this setting. Anyways, below are the pics. Let me know what you think.

thanks for the replies. i'm very happy with the ring. i think the setting was the best choice i made during this process. i like how the Gabriel x-prong doesn't have a bar in running across the stone like the Vatche. I think you get excellent value with the Gabriel setting

She's going to LOVE it. Great job on the setting! And I was also surprised at how much bigger my diamond was when it came back SET! I thought it would look smaller but it was HUGE!

Thanks for all the nice feedback, I really appreciate it! I feel like I did a good job with the ring considering how little I knew when I started this whole process.

I honestly did this way in advance of proposing. I initially was planning to do it in August when we went to visit family in San Diego. Then I found out we would be going to the Caribbean this January with my family. We have vacationed on St. Thomas several times and it has a lot of sentimental value to both of us. So I am thinking I'd really like to hold off and do the proposal on Magens Bay or a point overlooking the bay. I know its a long time off and the wait is going to kill me, but that would be the ideal and most meaningful spot to both of us

That sounds very sweet- your original idea to propose at a special place that means a lot to the two of you. I'm sure that if you were to propose at the back of a McDonald's, in a heat wave behind a garbage bin, *THAT* would become your new favourite spot!! (JK! I think you're a tad classier than that )

Just saying that no matter where or when you propose, it will be heartfelt and emotional and the newest most special place in the world, to the two of you! Sounds like you are pretty excited about having the ring, so why not celebrate a new day and place that will become "our place", in the future.

Waiting another 6 months is okay. We have been dating nearly 3 years and I'm sure another 6 months would be okay with her. She has no idea that I've bought the ring so I want to surprise her and vacation in the Caribbean would be perfect even though I'd like to give it to her sooner.
