Haven: did you go to University of Illinois? That's Dave's alma mater! Although, I'd be willing to guess he graduated about the time you were born!

DH is originally from Champaign, by way of LaGrange when he was very small. I was born and raised ''til 19 in Normal, home of Illinois State.

It really is a small world. . . he and I lived 40 miles apart growing up; our high schools were football/basketball rivals; he went to high school with my cousins; worked at the same grocery store chain as my grandfather; and we did not meet until we were both living in the same small town in Texas! I moved here one year before he did; we both left Illinois when our families decided to relocate. We lived here for 15 yrs without meeting even though we had mutual friends and business contacts. An elderly friend who knew us both set us up.

GO YOU REDBIRDS!

Small world!!!!!! I was there yesterday and couldn't believe how much the campus has changed.

Can't believe there are so many Central IL PSers - we were married in Springfield, I grew up near Champaign, spent the happiest years of my life in Normal ;), and now I'm happily living in Eastern Iowa.

Born and raised in So. Cal til age 32. Moved to the Main Line, which is a suburban area just outside of Philadelphia in summer 1997. Hope maybe some day to live in NYC in a gorgeous brownstone when all the kids are off and into their own lives, if I do not die of hysteria! Would love to live in London too, I love Europe but my other languages are a bit rusty!

I was born in Cambridge, MA (mom was in grad school) and raised in Mountain Brook, AL. My parents ended up getting divorced and my dad remarried and built my stepmmother this fortress house in Hoover.

I moved to Philly in 06 after I graduated from Tulane.

Somewhere over the rainbow...

I am from Wisconsin, but lived in Chicago for 10 years where I met DH. We moved out here to California just about 2 years ago. My husband is from here, but went to grad school at University of Illinois and ended up in Chicago. I am really liking LA, we live in Manhattan Beach!

Elmorton - I know Normal, Illinois - my grandmother grew up there - she was a Mecherle, the State Farm founding family! (Oh, how I miss her!)

WOW, what a heritage! My aunt and uncle worked for State Farm and I remember it being one very large building on Veteran''s when I was growing up... SF is SO HUGE now and they do so many really great things for ISU and the B-N community.

ha ha - "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there!"

I grew up in the Chicago area, but we would go down to Normal for family reunions when I was a child. The family was so "normal", that as a child I had no idea what State Farm even was. The company was actually started by 3 Mecherle brothers, but only one survived long enough to write a book and take credit for founding the company. My great-grandfather died young, he was one of the brothers. His wife and 4 children all moved to Chicago after his death. My grandmother was one of the 4 children.

I was born and raised in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia but moved a year ago to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with my family for my husband''s job. The weather here this winter is very nice, but I miss the people in Georgia....they are (for the most part) much nicer and much much better drivers

Hi Steph!

We''re neighbors - I live in Hollywood.

Very cool Tulip! How long have you lived here?

I've lived here since 1976, when my first baby was born! (I'm guessing that's the year you were born, too!) I'm originally from Chicago. I'm loving this "cold" weather! Bundle up, Steph, it's going to be in the 30s tonight!

I''m new to these boards, but I''m in NorCal (Monterey Bay).

I was born in Maryland, raised in CT, went to school in Boston, and just recently bought a house outside of Boston in the suburbs w/FI. Eventually, I''d like to move to southern California at least for a little while.

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Kansas City (the Kansas side) and now live in NYC. BIG change!

From Northern California, went to undergrad in LA, then grad school in NYC and Philly for about a year each, and finally settled in Orange County, CA!

Awwww...I was born in Pompano Beach at Holy Cross Hospital and my parents lived in Ft. Lauderdale for 8 years (dad was in real estate) before they moved back to Indiana, aka the Frozen North. I''m so envious of anyone who gets to live in FL. I truly love that state and DH knows that if we ever get the chance we are moving right back down there.

Scotland! Yay!

Have you ever met anybody with the surname "Tarrance" (my maiden name)?

I''ve been to Scotland one time very briefly, and passed through Edinburgh. It is very picturesque! I''d like to visit again.

Born, raised, and went to college in Massachusetts, grad school on Long Island, then moved to Los Angeles for work 8 years ago. Currently living with DH near the lovely Port of LA, 20 miles south of downtown.
